Now, this revised and updated edition comes to the United States with a new preface by the author, an extensive appendix of American titles, and Butler's 475 original book descriptions.

Each chapter is devoted to an age range and includes a summary of each book, comments about the illustrations, a note on how to use the book to deal with sensitive issues (such as divorce), and title/author/publisher information.
