S. Leeson is a professor and department chair of the animal- and poultry-science department at the University of Guelph in Canada. His main area of research is the potential for manipulation of eggs and poultry meat as it impacts human health, which he has been working on for more than a decade. J. D. Summers is a researcher whose work has spanned all the major poultry species, and was truly one of the pioneers of the golden age of poultry nutrition. They are coauthors of Nutrient Requirements of Poultry and Scott's Nutrition of the Chicken.
