Cultural Writing. Translated by Richard Perry and Helene Potter. This book contains a first-hand, insider's account of role these two radical student groups played in the revolutionary events that rocked all of France in the month of May, 1968. Vienet documented his experiences in the movement and includes the tracts and wall grafitti, the telegrams and photos, the songs and "detourned" comics, and the day-by-day accounts of the events. Rene Vienet, who joined the Situationist International in 1963, recounts the scandal in December 1966 at the University of Strasbourg where this group received widespread public attention to the events at the Sorbonne in Paris where thousands of students and workers took part in the General Strike which brought the French government to its knees.
