SELECT BIBLIOGRAPHY.

NOTE. The following list of books aims to be both a select bibliography of the English drama before Elizabeth, and a guide to the most important works upon the medieval drama now (Sept. 1896) in the libraries of The University of Chicago. The intention is to indicate the library where each book can be found, if it is at the University; but in the case of books contained in the English Library the section and the number of the shelf is given. A few works of especial value are marked with an asterisk. My especial indebtedness to the published bibliographies of Professors Stoddard and Bates is gratefully acknowledged.

In justice to Mrs. Moore it should be said that the MS. of her table was not revised for the printer, but I feel sure that the table contains few

errors.
