Excerpt: The National Cheerleading Championship (NCC) is the Philippines first and only cheerleading competition that employs American rules and regulations. The annual event, which started in 2006, is modeled after the US competitive cheereleading competitions. It is the only Philippine cheerleading organization to date that has brought in American Judges in its competitions as well as its Camps and training sessions. The NCCs aim is to bring together the best of the best in a National tournament. The NCC finals are based on qualifying tournaments organized by the NCC. The NCC has since ventured into regional competitions in the Philippines. In 2008, over 30 teams from North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao competed in qualifying competitions. The 2009 NCC Finals will be the biggest cheerleading competition in Philippine history, as over 30 teams from both High School and College will compete for a chance to be called the one true Philippine National Champion. The NCC is also all over the internet with its official website (www.nccphilippines.com) achieving over 27,000 hits in February alone. It is also having popular success with its other sites (Friendster, Multiply (nccphil.multiply.com), and Facebook (search National Cheerleading Championship). The NCC is a member of the Philippine Cheerleading Alliance, the Philippines' governing body for the sport of cheerleading. The PCA is a member of the International Cheer Union, the world governing body of the sport of cheerleading.
