PREFATORY REMARKS. The title of a book is not the preface of a book. Nor is the preface of a book its first page. We sometimes distinguish between a preface and an introduction. This is too formal. We sometimes need an introduction to a living person, and also to a book, a volume, or a subject. It is not a bald chapter of contents. It is rather a preparation of the mind of the reader for the subjects upon which it treats--a statement of its objects and designs. The Millennial Harbinger is now a series of 26 volumes on a variety of subjects, having one specific object-the preparation of the public mind for a better order of things in the visible church of Christ.
