ADVERTISEMENT TO THE SECOND EDITION.

The first edition of this work (of 2000 copies) having been so favourably received, and nearly all disposed of, chiefly in the Author's neighbourhood, the present edition, corrected and improved, has been prepared in the view of a more general circulation.

EXTRACT FROM PREFACE TO FIRST EDITION.

There is one point on which I beg to raise a claim (however small it may be esteemed) of having added something new: I refer to the idea, that the latter rain is now wholly withdrawn; and that it is not to be understood of the later showers of the former rain, as most, if not all other travellers assert. Some few observations respecting grass, honey, and milk, which I presume will commend themselves to all acquainted with agriculture, I have also taken the liberty to introduce. Under the head "Conclusion" the reader will find my observations at length.
