25 WHAT does Jesus say is coming?

By whom will all the dead be raised at the
Judgment?

What person did he raise from the dead very
soon after this? Matt. 9: 23-26.

What other persons did he raise from the dead while on the earth? - Luke 7: 11-19. John 11: 43, 44.

26 HAS the Father the power of himself to give life?

To whom has he given the same power?

[ocr errors]

27 WHAT authority has he also given to Jesus? What is the reason here given?

28 DID Jesus tell them not to wonder at what he had declared to them?

What did he say was coming?

Whose voice is it that they shall hear?

29 WHAT shall they do when they hear his voice?
Who will be present at that solemn scene?
Will all the children who have died in all the
world, and all men killed in battle, and all
drowned in the sea, come forth alive?
Do you really think all will come up out of the
graves, in that burying-ground, where you
have seen people buried?

What is said of those who have done good?
What of those who have done evil?
Will you repeat Dan. 12: 2?

Should you think from this, that persons who
are bad when they die, would ever become
good?

Can any, except the good, be happy?

Does it not become all to prepare for that day? 30 WHAT did Jesus say, v. 19 ?

Does he repeat the same thing in this verse? Will the sentence of condemnation he pronounces, be just ?

Whose will does he say he seeks ?

If you seek to please another, do you act merely for your own pleasure?

Now can you see clearly why Jesus said, I can do nothing of myself?

31 WHAT did he say about bearing witness of himself?

Can you recollect some occasion when there

was testimony from heaven, that Jesus was the Son of God?- Matt. 3: 17.

32 HAD he other evidence beside his own words? Was this testimony of John true ?

33 FOR what occasion did they send to John? Chap. 1: 19.

What did John call Jesus on that occasion ? 34 DID Jesus need the declaration of John, or any other man, to prove that he was the Son of God?

For what did he say he had made these remarks?

When they saw how Jesus was fulfilling what John had foretold, would they not be likely to believe on him?

35 WHAT does Jesus say of John?

How does he say the people received him for a time?

Why do you suppose they did not continue to be pleased with him?

Are persons inclined to love those who tell them their faults?

You have seen that Jesus will raise all the dead,

and judge the world; now will you think of this often through the week?

LESSON XII.

The Evidence of the Divinity of Jesus from his Works and Scripture.

CH. V. 36-47.

36 But I have greater witness than that of John; for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

38 And ye have not his word abiding in you for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

39 Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

41 I receive not honor from men.

42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

44 How can ye believe, which receive honor one of another, and seek not the honor that cometh from God only?

45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. 46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote

of me.

47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

In the last lesson, what did Jesus say he had in
himself? - V. 26.

When the people appeared astonished at what
he had told, what did he say they should see?
Did you not think that if he could raise all the
dead, and if he was to judge the world, he
knew all things and could do all things?
Do you think you love the teachings of Jesus?
Will you recollect to-day that he sees and hears
us in all we do and say?

Have you thought much of the judgment, at
which all good and all the bad persons must
appear?

36 HAD Jesus stronger evidence that he was the Son of God, than the declaration of John or any other person?

What did he say bore witness of him?

What declaration did a certain man make about this?- Chap. 3: 2.

Who was this man?

Do you think his miracles proved him to be the
Son of God?

Can you relate a fact stated in Chap. 9: 30-33? If a child should come to your house, to do something for his father, should you not think it almost certain, that his father sent him? 37 JESUS said his works proved that he was the Son of God; now, who does he say has borne witness of him?

Did not God speak of Jesus by Moses and the
prophets?

Can you repeat any passages where Jesus is
spoken of?- Deut. 18: 15. Isa. 53: 5.
Did any persons ever hear a voice declaring
him to be the Son of God?- Matt. 3:17.
On what occasion did this occur?

Can you recollect any other occasion?-Matt.
17:5.

If those to whom Jesus then spoke, had not heard this voice, still, was not the evidence, that he was the Son of God, very strong?

38 WHAT did Jesus say to them?

Were the people careful to obey the commands
of God?

What did Jesus refer to, as evidence that they
did not properly regard the word of God?
If they had fully understood and desired to
obey the word of God, would they not have
received Jesus?

How then must God regard them?

39 WHAT did Jesus direct them to do?

Is search more expressive than read?

When you lose something valuable, do you search for it?

Is there much that is very valuable in the Scriptures?

How should you read them?

Have you done this?

What did the Jews think they found in them?
Of whom do they testify?-Dan. 9: 26, 27.
Is not the way of life pointed out to all, in the
Scriptures ?

Do you recollect who received Jesus joyfully
when he was brought to the temple in infan-
cy?-Luke 2: 27.

- 32.

What do you think prepared Simeon to receive him?

40 WHAT did he say they would not do? In what did they trust for salvation? What is here meant by life?

Is there any other way in which men can be saved, except by Jesus Christ?

May all who desire it, come to him and be saved? - Rev. 22: 17.

Do you think any of the children in your class have come to Jesus ?

Is not youth the most favorable time to do this? 41 DID Jesus say these things for the purpose of receiving honor from men ?

Did not angels worship the Savior?-Heb. 1:6. 42 DID Jesus know their hearts ?

What did he say was not in them?

Was this the reason why they did not believe on him?

How do you feel in company with a person whom you do not love?

Will not the child who loves his parents obey
them?

Do such persons as disobey God love him?
What children in school, do you think love
God?
