OBSERVATIONS. 1st. The expenses of the Mint are not inserted above, because the sums stated in the Income under those heads, are the nett proceeds,

and the enumeration of those expenses would therefore have made it appear that they were double their real amount.

2nd. Even calculating the sum of 2,862,911 dollars for the Department of Venezuela, which is the highest amount, compared with what is assigned to those which are subject to the heaviest expenses in Colombia, there is still an excess of 1,230,297 dollars. Bogota, 1st January, 1827.
