II. Faith

II. Faith thus receiving and refting on Chrift and his Righteousness, is the alone Inftrument of Juftification; yet is it not alone in the Perfon juftified, but is ever accompanied with all other faving Gra ces, and is no dead Faith, but worketh by Love

III. Chrift by his Obedience and Death, did fully discharge the Debt of all thofe that are thus juftified, and did make a proper, real, and full Satisfaction to his Father's Juftice in their behalf. Yet

the law, but by the faith of Jesus Chrift, even we have believed in Jefus Chrift, that we might be justified by the faith of Chrift, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law fhall no flesh be juftified. Phil. 3. 9. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Chrift, the righteousness which is of God by faith. Acts 13.38. Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren,that through this man is preached unto you the forgivenefs offins: v. 39. And by him all that believe are juftified from all things, from the which ye could not be juftified by the law of Mofes. Eph, 2.7. That in the ages to come he might fhew the exceeding riches of his grace, in his kindness towards us, through Chrift Jefus. v. 9. For by grace are ye faved through faith; and that not of your felves it is the gift of God.

II. John 1. 12. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the fons of God, even to them that believe on his name. Rom. 3. 28. Therefore we conclude, that a man is juftified by faith, without the deeds of the law. Rom. 5.1. Therefore being juftified

James 2. 17. Even fo faith, if it hath not works, is dead being alone. v. 22. Seeft thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? v. 26. For in Jefus Chrift, neither circumcifion availeth any thing, nor uncircumcifion; but faith which worketh by love.

V. Matth. 6. 12. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debters, 1 John 1. 7. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jefus Chrift his fon cleanfeth us from all fin. v. 9. If we confess our fins, he is faithful, and juft to forgive us our fins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteoulnefs. 1 John 2. 1. My little chil dren, these things write I unto you,

VI. The Juftification of Believers under the Old Teftament, was in all these Respects, one and the fame with the Juftification of Believers under the New Teftament'.
