Livingston Co. Historical Society

EIGHTEENTH ANNUAL.

HE EIGHTEENTH annual meeting of the Livingston County Historical Society was held at Avon on January 16th, 1894. The business session convened in the Presbyterian church at 11 o'clock a. m. and was called to order by J. A. Dana, President of the society.

The minutes of the last meeting of the society were read and approved.

The Secretary and Treasurer presented and read his annual report which was as follows:

REPORT OF SECRETARY AND TREASURER.

To the members of the Livingston County Historical Society :-I herewith present my fourth annual report as Secretary and Treasurer for the year 1893 and to this date.

During the year death has removed three of our members :

Joel C. Bennett, July 23, 1893.

Archibald H. McLean, October 15, 1893.

Charles O. Beach, Dec. 25. 1893.

Memorial papers have been prepared and will be duly presented.

It will be noticed that there has been omitted from the published proceedings of last year several town reports-this was done under direction of the Publication committtee, not that the papers were not of interest but because in some instances all the facts stated were already matters of public record, and in others because our space was not sufficient for the publication of philosophizing essays.

One memorial paper, that on Charles L. Bingham, does not appear as it was not furnished in time, and the absence of another on Norman Seymour, is explained in the annual publication of the society.

One year ago the following new members were proposed and elected:

Foster W. Walker, Caledonia; D. D. Cameron, Caledonia; Charles Jones, Geneseo; John M. Milne, Geneseo; Frank E. Welles, Geneseo; J. W. Cowan, Geneseo; Charles O. Beach, Geneseo; George S. Ewart, Groveland; James Spittal, York; B. C. Nichols, York.

I have received from John W. Sickley of Groveland $1 accompanying his application, and I recommend his election.

The financial report of the year is as follows:

This is a condition of finances very gratifying to me as it is the first time since my connection with the society that we have been out of debt. The only outstanding bill to my knowlege is for printing notices for this meeting. The $61 received for annual dues came from the following members: Caledonia-A. H. McLean, $1; M. M. Campbell, $1; W.
