LIBRAIRIE DE FIRMIN DIDOT FRÈRES, FILS ET CIE Rue Jacob, 56, à Paris. En vente à Londres chez MM. Asher & Co., 13, Bedford-street. OUVRAGES CLASSIQUES. COURS THÉORIQUE ET PRATIQUE DE LANGUE FRANCAISE, A L'USAGE DES COLLEGES, DES ÉCOLES NORMALES ET DES GENS DU MONDE, Par M. P. POITEVIN, Ancien Professeur au Collége Rollin. The special and undeniable excellence of M. Poitevin's method has gained for it the honourable sanction of the Council of Public Instruction which has placed the work amongst the number of those which it particularly recommends for the use of Colleges. M. Poitevin, in his Grammaire, differs from his predecessors by relying rather upon the great writers, who are the only real legislators, than upon the rules laid down by other grammarians, many of which rules, like those of their English brethren, are obsolete. The remarkable part of M. Poitevin's work, and which is to be found in no other, is the series of applications which enable the pupil to exercise his ingenuity and memory upon. The exercises always accompany the theory, and the student is thus left in no doubt as to the real meaning of the rules; the judgment and the memory being alike exercised. PARTIE DE ÉLÉVE.
