"Considering the great and indispensible duty incumbens on! " us, we think it necessary to recommend to you, the putting in execution those laws which have been made, and are still "in force, against the profanation of the Lord's Day, and other disorderly practices; which, by a long continued neglect and “connivance of the magistrates and officers concerned, have "universally spread themselves, to the dishonour of God, and the "scandal of our holy religion. We do, therefore, hereby charge "and require you, to take the most effectual methods for putting "the laws into execution, against the crimes, sins, and vices "above mentioned: &c."
