EPSILON.

Epsilon wishes all her sisters a Happy New Year.

We are pleased to report an increase in membership of two sisters since our last letter. Mabel Hughes of Anoka, Minn., and Blanche Wright of Minneapolis, both of '94. We are now firmly established with thirteen members and our outlook is very bright and hopeful.

Sister Henrietta Coone has proved to be an invaluable counselor and help to us, and we hope more of our Alumnæ sisters may be attracted to this beautiful metropolis.

Epsilon made her debut into the social sphere of the University, en New Year's Day. Genie Cole, '94, very generously threw open her elegant home, where the Alpha Phis entertained their gentlemen friends, from four to ten P. M. A pretty Alpha Phi monogram hung conspicuously in the bay window of the parlor. The parlors, drawing room and dining. room were tastefully decorated with holly and flowers and ribbons of bordeaux and gray. Music, furnished by Savier's orchestra, and refreshments helped to make the evening pass very pleasantly. The reception was pronounced by all a decided success.

We are considering the advisability of initiating Santa Claus, in consideration of his kind remembrance of a number of our girls during the holidays. They are now the proud possessors of Alpha Phi badges.

The Senior class has decided to leave to the University as a memorial upon graduation, a bust in bronze of Dr W. W. Folwell, who was formerly president of the University and has been connected with the institution since 1868. Dr. Folwell is, at present, Professor of Political Economy, and has a national reputation as an authority upon this subject.

Exchanges.

Owing to the change of place for publishing THE QUARTERLY, many of the exchanges have failed to reach us. At least we charitably suppose this to be the reason rather than a tardiness in their appearance. We are pleased to know that this charge cannot be laid to any of the sorority journals, and so with pardonable curiosity we first peep into them.

The Key now boasts a salaried editor, and so expecting good things we open its cover, to be greeted by the kindly face of Mrs. Julia Ward
