2 Or io vi lodo, fratelli, di ciò che vi ricordate di tutte le cose che son da me; e che ritenete gli ordinamenti, secondo che io ve gli ho dati.

3 Ma io voglio che sappiate, che il capo d' ogni uomo è Cristo, e che il capo della donna è l' uomo, e che il capo di Cristo è Iddio.

4 Ogni uomo, orando, o profetizzando, col capo coperto, fa vergogna al suo capo.

5 Ma ogni donna, orando, o profetizzando, col capo scoperto, fa vergogna al suo capo; perciocchè egli è una medesima cosa che se fosse rasa.

6 Imperocchè, se la donna non si vela, tondasi ancora; che s' egli è cosa disonesta alla donna d'esser tonduta, o rasa, velisi.

7 Conciossiachè, quant' è all' uomo, egli non debba velarsi il capo, essendo l'immagine, e la gloria di Dio; ma la donna è la gloria del

l'uomo.

8 Perciocchè l' uomo non è dalla donna, ma la donna dall' uomo.

9 Imperocchè, ancora l' uomo non fu creato per la donna, ma la donna per l'uomo.

10 Perciò, la donna dee, per cagion degli angeli, avere la podestà in sul capo.

11 Nondimeno, nè l' uomo è senza la donna, nè la donna senza l' uomo, nel Signore.

12 Perciocchè, siccome la donna è dall' uomo, così ancora l' uomo è per la donna; ed ogni cosa è da Dio.

13 Giudicate fra voi stessi : È egli convenevole che la donna faccia orazione a Dio, senza esser velata? 14 La natura stessa non v' insegna ella ch' egli è disonore all' uomo se egli porta chioma ?

15 Ma, se la donna porta chioma, che ciò le è onore ? conciossiachè la chioma le sia data per velo.

16 Ora, se alcuno vuol parer contenzioso, noi, nè le chiese di Dio, non abbiamo una tale usanza.

2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the

man.

8 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the

man.

9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.

12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.

13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

17 Or io non vi lodo in questo, ch' io vi dichiaro, cioè, che voi vi raunate non in meglio, ma in peggio.

18 Perciocchè prima, intendo che, quando vi raunate nella chiesa, vi son fra voi delle divisioni; e ne credo qualche parte.

19 Conciossiachè bisogni che vi sieno eziandio dell' eresie fra voi, acciocchè coloro, che sono accettevoli, sien manifestati fra voi.

20 Quando adunque voi vi raunate insieme, ciò che fate non è mangiar la Cena del Signore.

21 Perciocchè, nel mangiare, ciascuno prende innanzi la sua propria cena; e l'uno ha fame, e l'altro è ebbro.

22 Perciocchè, non avete voi delle case per mangiare, e per bere? ovvero, sprezzate voi la chiesa di Dio, e fate vergogna a quelli che non hanno? che dirov vi? loderovvi in

ciò io non vi lodo.

23 Conciossiachè io abbia dal Signore ricevuto ciò che ancora ho dato a voi, cioè, che il Signore Gesù, nella notte ch' egli fu tradito, prese del pane;

24 E, dopo aver rendute grazie, lo ruppe, e disse: Pigliate, mangiate; quest' è il mio corpo, il qual per voi è rotto; fate questo in rammemorazione di me.

25 Parimente ancora prese il calice, dopo aver cenato, dicendo: Questo calice è il nuovo Patto nel sangue mio; fate questo, ogni volta che voi ne berrete, in rammemorazione di me.

26 Perciocchè, ogni volta che voi avrete mangiato di questo pane, e bevuto di questo calice, voi annunzierete la morte del Signore, finchè egli venga.

27 Perciò, chiunque avrà mangiato questo pane, o bevuto il calice del Signore, indegnamente, sarà colpevole del corpo, e del sangue del Signore.

28 Or provi l' uomo sè stesso, e così mangi di questo pane, e bea di questo calice.

29 Conciossiachè chi ne mangia, e bee indegnamente, mangi, e bea

17 Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.

18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.

21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

22 What! have ye not houses to eat and to drink in ? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus, the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread:

24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat; this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drink

34 E, se alcuno ha fame, mangi in casa; acciocchè non vi rauniate in giudicio. Or quant'è all' altre cose, io ne disporrò, quando sarò

venuto.

CAPO 12.

cerning the Lord's body.

30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.

34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

CHAPTER 12.

ORA

fratelli, io non voglio che

siate in ignoranza.

2 Voi sapete che eravate Gentili, trasportati dietro agl' idoli.mutoli, secondo che eravate menati.

3 Perciò, io vi fo assapere che niuno, parlando per lo Spirito di Dio, dice Gesù essere anatema; e che altresì niuno può dire Gesù esser il Signore, se non per lo Spirito Santo.

4 Or vi sono diversità di doni; ma non vi è se non un medesimo Spirito. 5 Vi sono ancora diversità di ministeri; ma non vi è se non un medesimo Signore.

6 Vi son parimente diversità d'operazioni; ma non vi è se non un medesimo Iddio, il quale opera tutte le cose in tutti.

7 Or a ciascuno è data la manifestazion dello Spirito perciò che è utile, ed ispediente.

8 Conciossiachè ad uno sia data, per lo Spirito, parola di sapienza; e ad un altro, secondo il medesimo Spirito, parola di scienza;

9 E ad un altro, fede, nel medesimo Spirito; e ad un altro, doni delle guarigioni, per lo medesimo Spirito; e ad un altro, l' operar potenti operazioni; e ad un altro, profezia; e ad un altro, discernere gli spiriti;

brethren, you ignorant.

2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.

3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same

Lord.

6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

12 Perciocchè, siccome il corpo un solo corpo, ed ha molte membra, e tutte le membra di quel corpo, che è un solo, benchè sieno molte, sono uno stesso corpo, così ancora è Cristo.

13 Conciossiachè in uno stesso Spirito noi tutti siamo stati battezzati, per essere un medesimo corpo; e Giudei, e Greci; e servi, e franchi; e tutti siamo stati abbeverati in un medesimo Spirito.

14 Perciocchè ancora il corpo non è un sol membro, ma molti.

15 Se il piè dice: Perciocchè io non son mano, io non son del corpo; non è egli però del corpo?

16 E, se l'orecchio dice: Perciocchè io non son occhio, io non son del corpo; non è egli però del corpo?

17 Se tutto il corpo fosse occhio, ove sarebbe l'udito? se tutto fosse udito, ove sarebbe l' odorato ?

18 Ma ora Iddio ha posto ciascun de' membri nel corpo, siccome egli ha voluto.

19 Che se tutte le membra fossero un sol membro, dove sarebbe il corpo?

20 Ma ora, ben vi son molte membra, ma vi è un sol corpo.

21 E l'occhio non può dire alla mano: Io non ho bisogno di te; nè parimente il capo dire a' piedi: Io non ho bisogno di voi.

22 Anzi, molto più necessarie che l' altre son le membra del corpo, che paiono essere le più deboli.

23 E a quelle, che noi stimiamo esser le meno onorevoli del corpo, mettiamo attorno più onore; e le

12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

14 For the body is not one member, but many.

15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I-am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?

20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary :

23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more

27 Or voi siete il corpo di Cristo, e membra di esso, ciascuno per parte sua.

abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:

25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

31 Or appetite, come a gara, i doni migliori; e ancora io ve ne mostrerò una via eccellentissima.

CAPO 13.

29 Are all apostles ? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret ?

31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

CHAPTER 13.

2 E, quantunque io avessi profezia, e intendessi tutti i misteri, e tutta la scienza; e, benchè io avessi tutta la fede, talchè io trasportassi i monti, se non ho carità, non son nulla.

3 E, avvegnachè io spendessi in nudrire poveri tutte le mie fa
