Francis Vincent Cole was born in 1920 in Castle Rock, Colorado. His parents were Arthur Vincent Cole, Sr. and Elizabeth Ellen Buck. After the war and during the years he and Jody were raising their boys, Art was a speech teacher, first at Westchester High School and later at Reseda High School, both in Southern California. He taught speech during his twenty-seven year career. Long after the war, Art and Jody traveled to Europe and re-visited places Art had been while there during the war. Art was nicknamed King Cole by his fellow pilots.
