a subsidy not exceeding $3,200 per mile, nor
exceeding in the whole........
To the Montreal and Ottawa Railway Company (for-
merly the Vaudreuil and Prescott Railway
Company), for 30 miles of their railway from
Vaudreuil towards Hawkesbury, the balance re-
maining unpaid of the subsidy granted by chap-
ter 24 of 1887; and for 30 miles of their railway
from the western end of the 30 miles first men-
tioned towards Ottawa, the balance remain-
ing unpaid of the subsidy granted by chapter 2
of 1890, not exceeding $3,200 per mile; the
whole not exceeding.....
Notwithstanding the expiration of the time limited
by chapter 2 of 1890, and by the contract entered
into with the Quebec Central Railway Company,
and notwithstanding anything otherwise in the
said chapter 2 contained, the Governor in
Council may pay the subsidy granted by the
said chapter to the said Company at the present
worth of the twenty annual payments men-
tioned in the said chapter (interest computed at
four per cent), for and upon the completion of
its railway extending from a point between the
Chaudière River and Tring Station to a point on
the International Railway at or near Lake
Megantic, and upon the inspection and accept-
ance of the same by the Chief Engineer of Rail-
ways and Canals, the sum in all of......
To the Philipsburg Junction Railway and Quarry
Company, for mile of their railway from
Stanbridge Station to Philipsburg, in the
county of Missisquoi and a branch to Missisquoi
Bay, the balance remaining unpaid of the subsidy
granted by chapter 5 of 1892, not exceeding
$3,200 per mile, nor exceeding in the whole...

of the whole work undertaken; and for 3 miles of
