Das 9 Capitel. Und er sprach zu ihnen: Wahrlich,

ich sage euch, es stehen etliche hier, die werden den Tod nicht schmecken, bis daß sie sehen das Reich Gottes mit Kraft kommen.

2 Und nach sechs Tagen nahm Jesus zu sich Petrum, Jakobum und Johannem, und führete sie auf einen hohen Berg besonders allein, und verklärte sich vor ihnen.

3 Und seine Kleider wurden hell, und sehr weiß wie der Schnee, daß sie fein Färber auf Erden kann so weiß machen.

4 Und es erschien ihnen Elias mit Mofe, und hatten eine Rede mit Jesu.

5 Und Petrus antwortete, und sprach zu Jesu: Rabbi, hier ist gut seyn ; laßt und dreh Hütten machen, dir eine, Most eine, und Elias eine.

6 Er wußte aber nicht, was er redete, denn sie waren bestürzt.

7 Und es fam eine Wolfe, die überschattete sie. Und eine Stimme fiel aus der Wolke, und sprach: Das ist mein lieber Sohn, den sollt ihr hören! 8 Und bald darnach sahen sie um fich, und fahen Niemand mehr, denn allein Jesum beh ihnen.

9 Da sie aber vom Berge herab gingen, verbot ihnen Jesus, daß sie Niemand sagen sollten, was sie gesehen hatten, bis des Menschen Sohn auferstünde von den Todten.

10 Und sie behielten das Wort beh sich, und befragten sich unter einander: Was ist doch das Auferstehen von den Todten?

11 Und sie fragten ihn und sprachen: Sagen doch die Schriftgelehrten, daß Elias müsse zuvor kommen.

CHAPTER IX.

ND he said unto them, Veri

ly I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.

2 And after six days, Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves; and he was transfigured before them.

3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

4 And there appeared unto them Elias, with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.

5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

6 For he wist not what to say: for they were sore afraid.

7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. 8 And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

9 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.

10 And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.

11 And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?

12 Er antwortete aber, und sprach zu ihnen: Elias soll ja zuvor kommen, und alles wieder zurecht bringen; dazu des Menschen Sohn soll viel leiden, und verachtet werden, wie denn geschrieben stehet.

13 Aber ich sage euch: Elias ist ge= kommen, und sie haben an ihm gethan, was sie wollten, nach dem von ihm geschrieben stehet.

14 Und er fam zu seinen Jüngern, und sah viel Volks um sie, und Schriftgelehrte, die sich mit ihnen befragten.

15 Und alsobald, da alles Volk ihn sah, entsetzten sie sich, liefen zu, und grüßten ihn.

16 Und er fragte die Schriftgelehrten: Was befraget ihr euch mit ihnen? 17 Einer aber aus dem Volke antwortete, und sprach: Meister, ich habe meinen Sohn hergebracht zu dir, der hat einen sprachlosen Geist;

18 und wo er ihn erwischet, so reißt er ihn, und schäumet, und knirschet mit den Zähnen, und verdorret. Ich habe mit deinen Jüngern geredet, daß fie ihn austrieben, und sie können es nicht.

19 Er antwortete ihm aber und sprach: du ungläubiges Geschlecht, wie lange soll ich bey euch seyn? Wie lange soll ich mich mit euch leiden? Bringet ihn her zu mir!

20 Und sie brachten ihn her zu ihm. Und alsobald, da ihn der Geist sah, riß er ihn, und fiel auf die Erde, und wälzete sich und schäumete.

12 And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.

13 But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.

14 And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.

15 And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him, saluted him.

16 And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them? 17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;

18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him; and he foameth and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away; and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out, and they could not.

19 He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? Bring him un

to me.

20 And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him and he fell on the ground, and wallowed, foaming.

21 And he asked his father, How

24 Und alsobald schrie des Kindes

is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. 22 And oft-times it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.

23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

24 And straightway the father of

25 Da nun Jesus sah, daß das Volk zulief, bedrohete er den unsaubern Geist, und sprach zu ihm: Du sprachloser und tauber Geist, ich gebiete dir, daß du von ihm ausfahrest, und fahrest hinfort nicht in ihn.

26 Da schrie er, und riß ihn sehr, und fuhr aus. Und er ward, als wäre er todt, daß auch viele sagten: Er ist todt.

27 Jesus aber ergriff ihn beh der Hand, und richtete ihn auf, und er stand auf.

28 Und da er heim kam, fragten ihn feine Jünger besonders: Warum konnten wir ihn nicht austreiben?

29 Und er sprach: Diese Art kann mit nichten ausfahren, denn durch Beten und Fasten.

30 Und sie gingen von dannen hinweg, und wandelten durch Galiläam; und er wollte nicht, daß es Jemand wissen sollte.

31 Er lehrete aber seine Jünger, und sprach zu ihnen: Des Menschen Sohn wird überantwortet werden in der Menschen Hände, und sie werden ihn tödten; und wenn er getödtet ist, so wird er am dritten Tage auferstehen.

32 Sie aber vernahmen das Wort nicht, und fürchteten sich, ihn zu fragen. 33 Und er kam gen Capernaum. Und da er daheim war, fragte er sie: Was handeltet ihr mit einander auf dem Wege?

34 Sie aber schwiegen, denn sie hatten mit einander auf dem Wege gehandelt, welcher der Größeste wäre.

35 Und er setzte sich, und rief die Zwölfe, und sprach zu ihnen: So Jemand will der Erste seyn, der soll der Letzte seyn von allen, und aller Knecht.

36 Und er nahm ein Kindlein, und stellete es mitten unter sie, und herzte dasselbige, und sprach zu ihnen:

25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. 27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he

arose.

28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?

29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

30 And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.

31 For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.

32 But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him. 33 T And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house, he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?

34 But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.

35 And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.

36 And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,

37 Wer ein solches Kindlein in meinem Namen aufnimmt, der nimmt mich auf; und wer mich aufnimmt, der nimmt nicht mich auf, sondern den, der mich gesandt hat.

38 Johannes aber antwortete ihm, und sprach: Meister, wir sahen einen, der trieb Teufel in deinem Namen aus, welcher uns nicht nachfolgte; und wir verboten es ihm, darum, daß er uns nicht nachfolgte.

39 Jesus aber sprach: Ihr sollt es ihm nicht verbieten. Denn es ist Niemand, der eine That thue in meinem Namen, und möge bald übel von mir

reden.

40 Wer nicht wider uns ist, der ist für uns.

41 Wer aber euch tränket mit einem Becher Wassers in meinem Namen, darum, daß ihr Christo angehöret, wahrlich, ich sage euch, es wird ihm nicht unvergolten bleiben.

42 Und wer der Kleinen einen ärgert, die an mich glauben, dem wäre es besser, daß ihm ein Mühlstein an seinen Hals gehängt würde, und er in das Meer geworfen würde.

43 So dich aber deine Hand ärgert, so haue sie ab. Es ist dir besser, daß du ein Krüppel zum Leben eingehest, denn daß du zwo Hände habest, und fahrest in die Hölle, in das ewige Feuer;

44 Da ihr Wurm nicht stirbt, und ihr Feuer nicht verlöschet.

45 Aergert dich dein Fuß, so haue ihn ab. Es ist dir besser, daß du lahm zum Leben eingehest, denn daß du zween Füße habeft, und werdest in die Hölle geworfen, in das ewige Feuer;

46 Da ihr Wurm nicht stirbt, und ihr Feuer nicht verlöschet.

47 Aergert dich dein Auge, so wirs es von dir. Es ist dir besser, daß du einäugig in das Reich Gottes gehest. denn daß du zweh Augen habest, und werdest in das höllische Feuer geworfen; 48 Da ihr Wurm nicht stirbt, und ihr Feuer nicht verlöschet.

49 Es muß alles mit Feuer gesalzen

37 Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.

38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us; and we forbade him, because he followeth not us.

39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.

40 For he that is not against us, is on our part.

41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the

sea.

43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes, to be cast into hell-fire:

48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 49 For every one shall be salted

Salz gefalzen.

50 Das Salz ist gut; so aber das Salz dumm wird, womit wird man würzen? Habt Salz beh euch, und habt Frieden unter einander. ·

Das 10 Capitel.

50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

CHAPTER X.

ND he arose from thence, and

dannen in die Derter des jüdi= schen Landes, jenseit des Jordans. Und das Volf ging abermal mit Haufen zu ihm, und wie seine Gewohnheit war, lehrete er sie abermal.

2 Und die Pharisäer traten zu ihm, und fragten ihn, ob ein Mann sich scheiden möge von seinem Weibe? lnd versuchten ihn damit.

3 Er antwortete aber, und sprach: Was hat euch Moses geboten ?

4 Sie sprachen: Moses hat zugelassen, einen Scheidebrief zu schreiben, und sich zu scheiden.

5 Jesus antwortete, und sprach zu ihnen: Um eures Herzens Härtigkeit willen hat er euch solches Gebot geschrieben;

6 Aber von Anfang der Kreatur hat ste Gott geschaffen ein Männlein und Fräulein.

7 Darum wird der Mensch seinen Vater und Mutter lassen, und wird seinem Weibe anhangen,

8 Und werden seyn die zweh ein Fleisch. So sind sie nun nicht zweh, sondern ein Fleisch.

9 Was denn Gott zusammen gefüget hat, soll der Mensch nicht scheiden.

10 Und daheim fragten ihn abermal seine Jünger um dasselbige.

11 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Wer sich scheidet von seinem Weibe, und freyet eine andere, der bricht die Ehe an ihr;

12 Und so sich ein Weib scheidet von ihrem Manne, und frehet einen andern, die bricht ihre Ehe.

3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?

4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.

5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart, he wrote you this precept:

6 But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.

7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

9 What therefore, God hath joinea .ogether, let not man put asunder.

10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same

matter.

11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
