broken and contrite heart, O Gód | shalt thou I not de- I -spise.

18 O be favourable and grácious I unto | Sion: build thou the I walls of Je- I -rusalem.

19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness with the burnt-offerings I and ob-lations: then shall they offer young I bullocks up- I -on thine I altar.

PSALM lii.-Quid gloriaris ?

WHY boástest thou thy- I -self thou I tyrant: that I thou canst I do I mischief;

mf WHY

2 Whereas the goodness. of I God: én- I -dureth yet daily?

3 Thy tongue im- I-agineth I wickedness: and with lies thou cúttest I like a sharp razor.

4 Thou hast loved unrighteousness more than I goodness and to talk of lies | more than I righteousness.

5 Thou hast loved to speak all words that I may do I hurt O'I-thou I false I tongue.

6 Therefore shall God destroy I thee for I ever: he shall take thee, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling and root thee out of the I land I of the living.

*

7 The righteous also shall sée I this and I fear: and shall laugh I him to I scorn.

8 Lo, this is the man that took not Gód | for his I strength but trusted unto the multitude of his riches and strengthened him- I -self | in his wickedness.

9 As for me, I am like a green olive-trée in the l house of God: my trust is in the tender mércy of God for I ever and I ever.

10 I will always give thanks unto thee for that thou hast I done: and I will hope in thy Name, for thy saints I like it I well.

4 But they are all gone out of the way they are

5 Are not they without understanding that I work |
wickedness: eating up my people as if they
would eat bread they have not I called

PSALM liv.-Deus, in nomine.

AVE me, O Gód for thy | Name's sake: and a- I -venge me I in thy I strength.

2 Hear my prayer O God and hearken únto the words of my mouth.

3

For strangers are rísen I up a- I -gainst me: and tyrants, which have not God before their eyes i seek after. my I soul.

4 Behold, Gód I is my I helper: the Lord is with them that up- I -hold my soul.

5 He shall reward évil unto. mine I enemies: destroy thou I them I in thy | truth.

6 An offering of a free heart will I give thee

PSALM lv.-Exaudi, Deus.

HEAR my I prayer 0 God: and hide not thy-I

self from my pe- I -tition.

2 Take heed unto me and I hear me: how I mourn in my prayer I and am I vexed.

3 The enemy crieth so and the ungodly cómeth I on so fast for they are minded to do me some mischief so maliciously I are they I set a- I -gainst me.

4 My heart is disquíet- I -ed with--in me: and the fear of death is I fallen up- I -on me. 5 Fearfulness and trembling are I come up- I -on me and an horrible dréad hath I overwhelmed I me.

6 And I said, O that I had wings | like a | dove: for then would I flée a- I -way and I be at I rest. 7 Lo, then would I gét me a- I -way far I off: ánd re--main in the wilderness.

8 I would make háste | to es- I -cape: because of the stormy wind and I tempest.

9 Destroy their tongues O Lórd‍l and di- | -vide them: for I have spied unrighteousness and I strife in the I city.

10 Day and night they go about within the I walls there--of: mischief also and sorrow are I in the midst of it.

II Wickedness I is there- I -in: deceit and guile | go not out of their I streets.

12 For it is not an open enemy that hath done me I this dishonour: fór I then I could have! borne it.

13 Neither was it mine adversary that did mágnify him--self a- I -gainst me: for then, peradventure, I' would have I hid my- I -self | from him. 14 But it was even thou my com- I -panion: my guíde and mine I own fa- I -miliar I friend.
