Dormir.

To sleep.
Endormir.

To lull to sleep.

To fall asleep.
Redormir.
To sleep again.

Mentir.
To lie.

Le tonnerre m'a empêché de dormir.
The thunder prevented me from sleeping.
Nous n'avons jamais pu endormir l'enfant.
We never could lull the child to sleep.

J'ai commencé à m'endormir à la pointe du jour.
'I began to fall asleep at day-break.
Il a redormi malgré le bruit.

He slept again, in spite of the noise.
Quant à moi, je ne me suis pas rendormi
As for me, I did not fall asleep again.

Do not believe him, he does nothing but lie.
