That I might have received, que j'eusse reçu. &c. N.B. The Scholar will exercise himself in conjugating the verb devoir, which is also an auxiliary in the French conjugation, as may have been noticed.

THE FOLLOWING VERBS

ARE CONJUGATED LIKE RECEVOIR.
Apercevoir. Je l'ai aperçue le premier.
To perceive.

I perceived her first.
Concevoir. Je ne conçois pas ce que vous me dites.
To conceive. I do not conceive (or understand ) what you tell me,
Décevoir. Ses espérances ont été déçues.
To deceive, to His hopes have been disappointed.

disappoint. Devoir.

Il doit beaucoup d'argent à ses créanciers. To owe.

He owes a great deal of money to his creditors. Deroir.

Tout citoyen doit obéir aux lois de son pays. To be obliged. Every citizen is obliged (or ought) to obey the laws

of his country. Redevoir.

Il nous redoit environ cinq cents piastres.
To owe still. He still owes us about five hundred piasters.
Percevoir. Il est préposé pour percevoir les taxes.
To gather.
To collect,

He is appointed to collect the taxes.

The irregular verb falloir occurs so frequently in speech, that we give here its conjugation.
