An Abstract of the feveral ACTS following, Paffed in the Parliament of GreatBritain, Anno Octavo Annæ Reginæ.

An Abstract of the Act for Explaining and Enlarging an Act of the Sixth Tear of Her Majefty's Reign, Intituled, An Act for the Security of Her Majefty's Perfon and Government.

Military in Scotland, fhall, before 28 June, 1710, p. 232. take and fubfcribe the Oath of Abjuration, as in Act: 6 Anne, and also the Oath of Allegiance, and fubfcribe the Affurance, in the Words of this Act, either in the Chancery, Queen's-Bench, Common-Pleas, or Exchequer at Westminster, the fame fhall be as effectual as if fuch Perfon had taken the Oaths, by the faid A&t appoin ted, within the Time, and at the Places therein mentioned.

All Perfons admitted hereafter into any Office, Ci. P. 233. vil or Military, in Scotland, fhall, within three Months after admittance, take and fubfcribe the Oaths, either in the Courts of Seffion. Jufticiary, or Exchequer in Scotland, or at the Quarter-Seffions there, where fuch Perfons inhabit, or in any other Court where the Oaths have ufually been adminiftred in Scotland, or in the Chancery, Queens-Bench, Common-Pleas, or Exche quer at Westminster.

The faid Courts fhall Adminifter the faid Oaths to fuch as fhall tender themselves to take them, &c. and give to them a Certificate of their having taken the fame, for which there fhall be paid a Sum not exceeding 2 s.

Every Perfon in Office in Scotland, taking the Oaths in any of the Courts at Westminster, fhall tranfmit the faid Certificates within 3 Months to the Courts of Seffion, or Jufticiary, or Exchequer, &c. in Scotland, where they fhall be kept, and to which all Perfons fhall have free Accefs, without Fee.

Perfons neglecting to take and fubfcribe the Oaths, fhall incur the Penalties in the faid A& men. tioned.

All Perfons who having taken the faid Oaths, &c. in any of Her Majefty's Courts at Westminster, and neglecting to tranfmit the Certificate above 3 Months, fhall forfeit their Offices, and alfo rool. recoverable by fuch Perfon as fhall fue for the fame, by Summary Procefs in the faid Court of Seffion.

Any Perfon employ'd in any Office in Scotland, may take the Oath de Fideli, or Oaths, for the due Execution of his Office, before one of the Judges of England ; which fhall be as effectual as if taken before any Judge in Scotland.

In cafe Henry Newton, L. L. D. the Queen's Envoy to the Duke of Tuscany, fhall receive the Sacrament, &r. within 3 Months after his Return, and take the Oaths, &c. in one of Her Majefty's Courts at Westminster, the next Term after his Return, or at the next Quarter Seffion held for Middlefex, after the faid 3 Months, he fhall be Qualified as if he had taken the Oaths in the time by Law required.

An Abstract of the Act for Discharging the Attendance of Noblemen, Barons, and Freeholders, upon the Lords of Justiciary, in their Circuits, in that Part of GreatBritain called Scotland, and for Abolishing the Method of Exhibiting Criminal Informations by the Porteous Roll,

Naffed, That after ! My 1710, no Perfon fhall be obliged, by himfelf, Tenants or Servants, to at tend the Lords of Jufticiary, either in Going to, or Coming from the Piaces where the Circuit-Courts are held, except the Sheriff, or his Deputies, and their Officers; and no Sheriff, &c. fhall be obliged to Attend the faid Lords of Jufticiary, at any time or Place out of the Bounds of the County whereof fuch Perfon is Sheriff, except at the Place, and during the Time, where the faid Courts of the Districts fhall be held.

After the faid 1 May, no Perfon fhall be obliged to Attend at the Place where the Circuit-Court is held, during its Continuance, except fuch as fhall be Sum· moned

moned upon any Grand-Jury, or Petty-Jury, or who w fhall be Summoned to give Evidence in any Cause before the Court, or Bound over to Appear, or fuch as fhall make Prefentments, in order to Tryals; but when Prefentments are made by the Juftices of Peace, at their Quarter-Seffions, or at the Yearly Meetings in July and February, they may depute One or more of their Number to Attend, in Place of the Whole, and except fuch who by the Duty of their Offices are bound to Attend.

The Method formerly ufed in Scotland, of Taking up Dittay, and Exhibiting Information by the Strefs and Porteous Roll, fhall be and is hereby totally Abolished.

Informations, in order to Making up of Dittays, concerning Crimes to be Tried in the Circuits in Scotland, after 1 May, fhall be by Prefentments to be made by the Juftices of Peace at their Quarter-Seffions, or upon Informations to be taken by the Sheriffs, Stewarts, &c. concerning fuch Crimes as are to be Tried in the Circuits of July and February Yearly, and Two at least of the Juftices of Peace, are to meet at the Head-Burgh p. 237. of the Shires, within which they are Juftices, at the Place and Hour of Meeting, upon 21 July and February Yearly, being Lawful Days, or on the next Lawful Day thereafter, there to receive fuch Informations as fhall be offered, and to Revife fuch as have been taken, before the time of the faid Meeting, by Two or more of the faid Juftices; and the faid Sheriffs, Stewarts, &c. fhall meet upon 22 July and February, yearly, at the Places and Hour of their Meetings, there to receive fuch Informations as fhall be offered, concerning Matters Criminal to be Tried in the Circuits, and are to make up particular Accounts of fuch Criminal Facts, happening within their Bounds, as are to be Tried, containing the Names and Defignation of the Offenders, the Facts, with the Time and Place, &c. and alfo the Names and Defignation of the Witneffes, and Titles of fuch Writs as are to be made ufe of at the Trials; which Informations are to be Signed by Two of the faid Juftices, and their Clerks, or by the faid Sheriffs, &c. and to be Tranfmitted, with fuch Writs, &c. to the Lord Juftice Clerk, &c. at Edinburgh, 40 Days before the Holding the Circuit-Courts, that be ing given to Her Majefties Advocate in Scotland, Libels and Indictments may be Raised and Executed against Parties, Affyfers, and Witneffes, according to former Laws and Customs.

The Magiftrates of fuch Cities and Boroughs where the Circuit-Courts are held, fhall attend the Lords of

Jufticiary during their abode there; and fhall prepare convenient Benches and Places for the Juftices of Peace to fit on, and be prefent at the faid Courts, who are hereby declared to have and enjoy the fame Privileges in Court, as the Juftices of Peace now enjoy in England.

Nothing in this Act fhall reftrain Her Majesties Advocat, &c. in Her Majefties Name, or any Perfon to Inform and profecute any Criminal Action before the Circuit Court, in the fame way and manner as is in ufe to be done before the Jufticiary Court at Edinburgh, or to alter the method of returning Jurymen or Affyfers by the Sheriffs, as formerly.

An Abstract of the Act to Regulate the Price and fize of Bread.

Naffed, That fo much of the Statute 51 Hen. 3. The tituled, Affiza Panis & Cervicia, as relates to the Affize of Bread, fhall be Repealed and made Void: And after 1 May, 1710, the Court of Lord Mayor, and Aldermen in Londen; and the Mayor, Bailiffs, &c. of any other City, &c. or Two or more Juftices of the Peace in fuch Places where there fhall be no Mayor, &c. fhall Set, Afcertain and Appoint, within their feveral Jurifdi&tions, the Affize and Weight of all Sorts of Bread to be fold, having refpect to the Price the Grain, Meal, &c. whereof fuch Bread fhall be made, fhall bear in the feveral Publick Markets, &c. where fuch Affize fhall be Set, and making Allowance to the Bakers for their Charges; which Affize shall be fet in Averdupois, and not Troy Weight.

No Perfon, after 1 May, fhall make for Sale, any Sorts of Bread, other than the feveral Sorts hereafter mentioned, viz. White, Wheaten and Houfhold, and fuch other Sorts as fhall be publickly Licenfed and Allowed by the faid Court of Lord Mayor and Aldermen in London, &c. or by the other Chief Magistrates within their Jurifdi&tions; all which Sorts of Bread fhall be made in their feveral Degrees, according to the Goodness of the Sorts of Grain whereof the fame ought to be made; and the Affize and Weight of White, Wheaten, and Houfhold Bread made of Wheat, fhall be Afcertained according to the Table fet down in the A&t.

Every common Baker, fhall, after 1 May, fairly mark on every Loaf for Sale, the Sort, Price, and Weight
