15. ἵνα πᾶς ὁ πιςεύων εἰς αὐτὸν, μὴ 349. ἀπολεται, ἀλλ ̓ ἔχῃ ζωὴν αἰώνιον.

18. Ὁ πιςεύων εἰς αὐτὸν, ὦ κρίνεται· ὁ δὲ μὴ πιςεύων, ἤδη κέκριται· ὅτι μὴ πεπίςευκεν εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τα μονογενᾶς ὑι τ8 Θε8.

36. Ὁ πιςεύων εἰς τὸν ὑιον, ἔχει ζωὴν

14. As Mofes lifted up the ferpent in the Des fert, fo it is neceffary that the Son of Man fhould be lifted up.

15. That every one who believeth in Him fould not perifh, but have AIONIAN life.

18. He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but He that doth not believe is already condemned [or judged], becaufe he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God.

36. He that believeth on the Son bath aionian life: but he that believeth not on the Son fhall not fee life ; but the wrath of God remaincib upon him.

John, ch. vi. ver. 47.

̓Αμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, Ὁ πιςεύων εἰς ἐμὲ, ἔχει ζωὴν αἰώνιον.

Verily,

Verily, verily, I fay unto you, He that believeth on me hath AIONIAN life.

John, ch. xi. ver. 25, 26.

25. Εἶπεν αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησᾶς· Ἐγώ εἰμι ἡ ἀνάςασις καὶ ἡ ζωή· ὁ πιςεύων εἰς ἐμὲ, καν ἀποθάνη, ζήσεται·

26. καὶ πᾶς ὁ ζῶν καὶ πιςεύων εἰς ἐμὲ, ἐ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα· Πιςεύεις τέτο ;

25. refus faid unto her, I am the refurrection, and the life: he that believeth on me, even if he hould die, [yet] hall he live.

26. And every one who liveth and believeth on me phall not die through the whole] aion. Believeft thou this?

Romans, ch. x. ver. 11.

Λέγει γὰρ ἡ γραφή· Πᾶς ὁ πιςεύων ἐπ ̓ αὐτῷ ἐ καταισχυνθήσεται.

For the Scripture faith, Whosoever believeth en Him hall not be afbamed.

1 John, ch. v. ver. 1.

Πᾶς ὁ πιςεύων ὅτι Ἰησᾶς ἐσιν ὁ Χρισὸς,

ἐκ τῇ Θεῖ γεγέννηται.

Every one that believeth that Jefus is THE CHRIST, is born of God.

1 John, ch. v. ver. 11, 12, 13.

II. Καὶ αὕτη ἐςὶν ἡ μαρτυρία, ὅτι ζωὴν αἰώνιον ἔδωκεν ἡμῖν ὁ Θεός· καὶ αὕτη ἡ ζωὴ ἐν τῷ ὑιῷ αὐτῷ ἐςιν.

12. Ὁ ἔχων τὸν ὑιον, ἔχει τὴν ζωήν· ὁ μὴ ἔχων τὸν ὑιὸν τῇ Θε8, τὴν ζωὴν ἐκ ἔχει. 13. Ταῦτα ἔγραψα ὑμῖν, τοῖς πιςεύ εσιν εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ὑιᾶ τὸ Θεῖ· ἵνα εἰδῆτε 351. ὅτι ζωὴν ἔχετε αἰώνιον, καὶ ἵνα πιςεύητε εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ὑιᾶ τὸ Θε8.

II. And this is the witnes, [or teftimony,] that God hath given unto us aionian life: and this life is in His Son.

12. He that hath the Son hath the life; he that hath not the Son of God hath not the life.

13. These things have I written unto you who believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye might perceive that ye have aionian life, and that ye might [continue to] believe on the name of the Son of God.

Galatians,

352.

Galatians, ch. iii. ver. 22.

̓Αλλὰ συνέκλεισεν ἡ γραφὴ τὰ πάντα ὑπὸ ἁμαρτίαν, ἵνα ἡ ἐπαγ[ελία ἐκ πίςεως Ιησε Χρις δοθῇ τοῖς πιςεύεσι.

But the Scripture hath concluded [or bound and but up] all things * whatever, under fin, [or in confequence of fin ;] that the promife, by means of faith in Jefus Chrift, might be given to those who believe.

1 Cor. ch. i. ver. 21.

Ἐπειδὴ γὰρ ἐν τῇ σοφίᾳ τῇ Θεξ ἐκ ἔγνω ὁ κόσμος διὰ τῆς σοφίας τὸν Θεὸν, εὐδόκησεν ὁ Θεὸς διὰ τῆς μωρίας τα κηρύγματος σῶσαι τὰς πιςεύοντας.

* It is very remarkable, that the expreffion, in this verfe, is not της πάντας, as our tranflation in the Bible would lead us to fuppofe; but τὰ πάντα. In confequence of which, (as well as in confequence of the whole context, when rightly and fully confidered,) the meaning feems to be : that the Scripture hath declared, that, in confe quence of the effect of fin, all the glory defigned to be made manifeft in all the works of creation is at prefent concealed and fhut up that the promife of the developement, or manifeftation,' of the whole, might be given (according to the will of God) to thofe who would accept of His appointed means of deliverance, through faith in Jeus, the Anointed Lord and Ruler of all.

For after that, in the wildom of God, the world by means of WISDOM knew not God; it pleafed God, by means of [what might be efteemed] foolishness [or a very unlearned and ordinary way] of preaching, to fave those who

SHOULD BELIEVE.

Acts, ch. x. ver. 42, 43.

42. Καὶ παρήγγειλεν ἡμῖν κηρύξαι τῷ λαῷ, καὶ διαμαρτύρασθαι ὅτι αὐτός ἐςιν ὁ ὡρισμένος ὑπὸ τῇ Θε8 κριτῆς ζώντων καὶ νεκρῶν.

43. Τέτῳ πάντας οἱ προφῆται μαρτί ξεσιν, ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν λαβεῖν διὰ τῷ ὀνόματος αὐτᾶ πάντα τὸν πιςεύον]α εἰς αὐτόν.

42. And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who is ordained of God JUDGE of living and of dead.

43. To Him do all the prophets bear witness, that every one THAT BELIEVETH ON HIM fhall receive remiffion of fins through HIS NAME.

Acts, ch. xvi. ver. 31.

Οἱ δὲ ἔἶπον· Πίςευσον ἐπὶ τὸν Κύριον Ἰησῶν Χρισὸν, καὶ σωθήσῃ σὺ καὶ ὁ οἶκός σε.
