It is hoped, that the good fenfe and exalted piety of these REFLECTIONS, may render them of some use to the world in general. They were written by Mrs. C. Talbot, who, to the finest imagination, and the most elegant accomplishments of her Sex, added the gentleft manners, and a difpofition thoroughly benevolent and devout.

Thofe in particular, who had the happiness of a perfonal acquaintance with the Author, will be pleased to have an opportunity of profiting by her thoughts, now they are no longer permitted to enjoy the bleffing of her example.

O LORD, THOU HAST

SEARCHED ME OUT,

AND KNOWN ME: THOU KNOWEST MY DOWNSITTING AND MINE UP-RISING: THOU ART ABOUT MY PATH, AND ABOUT MY BED, AND SPIEST OUT ALL MY WAYS.

How true, how aftonishing is this thought! Almighty God, my Maker, is ever prefent with me. He is infinite in Being, and therefore must be every where. He is infinite in Knowledge, and therefore every thing must be known to him. No creature is too inconfiderable for his notice, who is
