1OD having made a Covenant of Works

and Life thereupon, a with our first Parents, and all their Pofterity in them they being feduced by the fubtilty and temptation of Satan, did wilfully tranfgrefs the Law of their Creation, and break the Covenant in eating the forbidden fruit. By this Sin they, and we in them, fell from original Righteousness and Communion with God, and fe became dead in Sin, and wholly defiled in all the faculties and parts of Soul and Body.fd Gen. 3. 6, 7, 8. The first Covenant made with man, was a Covenant of Works, wherein life was promised to Adam, and in him to his pofterity, upon condition of perfect and perfonal Obedience. db Gal 8 12 c Rom 10 5 & 5 12 10 20 d Gen. 2 17 Gal 3 10

III.

Man by his fall having made himself uncapable of life by that Covenant, the Lord was pleafed to make a fecond, commonly called the Covenant of Grace; wherein he frely offereth unto Sinners life and Salvation by Jefus Chrift, requiring of them Faith in him that they may be javed, and promifing to give unto all those that are ordained unto life, his holy Spirit to make them willing and able to believe. Gal. 3 21. Rom. 3 20,21 Gen 3. Mark 16. 15,16. John 3. 16. Rom. 106, 10. Gal.3.11. Ezek. 36 26,27. John 6. 44, 45.

This Covenant ofGrace is frequently fet forth in Scripture by the name of a Teftament in reference to the death of Jefus Chrift the Tefta, tor, and to the everlafting Inheritance, with all things belonging to it, therein bequeathed. A Heb.7.22.& 9.15,16,17. Luke 22, 20. I Cor.
