They who upon pretence of Chriftian liberty shall pole any Lawful power, or the lawful exercises of it, relift the Ordinance of God, and for their publishing of such opinions, or maintaing of fuch practices as are contrary to the Light of nature, or to the known principles of Chriftianity, whether concerning faith, worship or conversation, or to the power of Godliness, or fuch erronious opinions or practices, as either in their own nature, or in the manner of publishing or maintaining them are destructive to the external peace & order which Chrift hath established in the Church, they may Lawfully be called to account, and proceeded against by the cenfures of the Church, and by the power of the Civil Magiftrate; yet in fuch differences about the Dorines of the Gofpel, or ways of the Worfhip of God, as may befal men exercifing a good confcience, manifefting it in their Converfation, and holding the foundation, & duly obferving the Rules of peace and order, there is no warrant for the Magiftrate to abridge them of their liberty.

It is the Duty of People to pray for Magifrates, to honour their Perfons, to pay them Tribute and other dues, to obey, their lawful

commands, and to be subject to their authority for confcience fake. Infidelity, or difference in religion, eeth not make void the Magiftrates juft and legal Authority, nor freethe people from their due Obedience to him: from which Ecclefiaftical perfons are not Exempted, much leis hath the Pope any power or Jurifdiction over them in their dominions, or over any of their people, and leaft of all to deprive them of their dominions or lives if he fhall judge them to be hereticks, or upon any other pretence whatsoever. 1 Pet. 2. 17. Marriage ought not to be within the degrees of Confanguinity or affinity forbidden in the Word, nor cia fuch Incestuous Marriages ever be made Lawful by any Law of man, or confent of parties, fo as thofe Perfons may live together as Man and Wife h Lev 18 chap 1 Cor. 5. 1.
