"Lookit its damn neck. It'll bleed to death if you don't kill it." Hooker shuffled from
one foot to the other. He had to go to the bathroom all of a sudden. His mouth
dried up. "I don't know how . . ." he said, looking at Gilbert. Gilbert looked faded
behind the screen. He wiped his hands across his shirt. "Kill it with the hatchet,"
he said. "That's quick." "You," said Hooker. "It's your damn cat," said Gilbert,
