brought Water in a Time of Drought to fupply three Armies, viz. those of Edom, Judah and Ifrael. (5.) He increased the Widow's Pot of Oil, that it was fufficient to pay her Debts, and maintain her. (6.) He promifed a Son to the Shunamite Woman who entertained him, who was before barren, and raised this Son to Life again when he died. (7.) He healed Naaman the Syrian of his Leprofy, by bidding him wash in Jordan. (8.) He pronounced the Plague of Leprofy on Gehazi, his own Servant for his Covetoufnefs and Lying. (9.) He made the Iron Head of an Ax float on the Water that it might be restored to its Owner. (10.) He difcovered the King of Syria's private Counfels to the King of Ifrael, and fmote his Army with Blindness. (11.) He foretold vaft Plenty on the Morrow, in the Midft of a Siege and Famine in Samaria. (12.) He foretold the Death of Benbadad the King of Syria, and that Hazael fhould fucceed him, and treat Ifrael with Cruelty. See the fecond Book of Kings, from the fecond to the eighth Chapter.

34. Q. Who was Jehu, and how came he to the Kingdom?

A. Jebu was a Captain, who was anointed King by the Prophet whom Elifba fent for that Purpose, according to the Appointment of God and Elijah, Kings xix. 16, and 2 Kings ix. 1, 2, &c.

35. Q. What was the great Work for which God railed up Jehu to the Kingdom?

A. To deftroy the Worship of Baal, and to bring the threatened Judgments of God on the House of Ahab for their Wickedness, ver. 7.

36. Q. How did Jehu execute this bloody Work upon the House of Ahab;

A. This Pekab joined with the King of Syria to invade Judah, but he was repulfed: In his Days, Tiglath-Pilefer, King of Affyria, took many Cities in Galilee, and carried many of the People captive to Affyria, 2 Kings xiv. 29. and xvi. 5-9.

4. Twenty, viz. Rehoboam, Abijab, Afa, Jebofha-. phat, Fehoram, Abaziah, Athaliah the Queen, Foah, Amaziah, Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, Ma-· naffeb, Ammon, Jofiah, Jebaabaz, Jeboiakim, Jehoia-. bin, and Zedekiah,

2 Q. Were all theje Rulers of Judah alfe great Sinners as well as the Kings of Ifrael?

A. A few of them were very religious, fome very wicked, and others of an indifferent or mixed Character.

3Q. What fell out in Rehoboam's Reign, after the ten Tribes had made Jeroboam their King?

A. When Rehoboam raised a great Army out of Judah and Benjamin to recover the ten Tribes, God by his Prophet forbid them to proceed, 1 Kings xii. 22-25.

A. Yes, in the following Times there were bloody Wars between them.

A. They fell into Idolatry and fhameful Sins, whereupon God was angry, and Shishack King of Egypt plundered the Temple, and the King's Houfe of their Treasures, in the fifth Year of Rehoboam's Reign, 1 Kings xiv. 25. So fhort lived was the fupreme Grandeur and Glory of the Jewish Church and State.

A. He made a Speech, and pleaded against Ifrael, when Jeroboam led them to war against him; he reproved them for their Departure from the true Worfhip of God, and from the House of David; and when they would not hearken, but fet upon him in Battle, he and his Army cried unto the Lord, and fhouted, and flew five hundred thoufand Men.
