MARQ. La, la, la, lare, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la.

URAN. Many amusing things have happened during our dispute. I should think a little comedy might well be made out of them, which would not be amiss at the end of The School for Wives.

DOR. You are right.

MARQ. Bless me, Chevalier, you would not play a distinguished rôle in it.

DOR. True, Marquis.

CLIM. Yes, I wish it could be done, provided it were given exactly as it happened.

ÉLIS. And I would gladly assist with my part.

Lys. I think I would not refuse mine.

URAN. Since all are agreeable, Chevalier, make a memorandum of it, and hand it to Molière, whom you know, to make a comedy of it.

CLIM. He would not care for it, I am sure; such a thing would not increase his reputation.

URAN. No, no; I know his temper: he does not care if his pieces are criticised, as long as people come to see them.

DOR. Yes; but what ending can we find for this plot? For it has neither marriage nor recognition; and I do not see how we can finish the discussion.

URAN. We must think of some incident for that.

SCENE VII AND LAST

GALOPIN, LYSIDAS, DORANTE, THE MARQUIS, CLIMÈNE, ÉLISE, URANIE

DOR. Ah! that is just what is needed for the climax we seek we could not find a more natural one.
