Isa. xlii. 1. Behold my servant whom I uphold, mine elect in whom my soul delighteth, I have put my Spirit upon him, he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. Matt. xii. 18.
Ixi. 1. The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach glad tidings to the meek. Luke iv. 18.
Matt. iii. 16. Jesus saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him. Mark i. 10. Luke iii. 22.
Luke iii. 4. Jesus waxed strong in spirit, and the grace of God was John i. 32. John bare record saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

VII. Upon his oblation. Heb. ix. 14. Christ through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot unto God.
VIII. His resurrection. 1 Pet. iii. 18. Christ being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.
IX. The Spirit's influences upon the apostles, is a witness to Christ. John xv. 26. The Comforter, the Spirit of truth, he shall testify of me. Ver. 27.
Acts v. 32. We are his witnesses, so is also the Holy Ghost.
Rom. i. 4. Jesus Christ declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness.
I Tim. iii. 16. God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit. Heb. x. 15. The Holy Ghost is a witness unto us.
1 John v. 6. It is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
Ver. 7. There are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost.
Ver. 8. There are three that bear record on earth, the Spirit, the water, and the blood.
Rev. xix. 10. The testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy.
X. The Spirit's influence upon the apostles of Christ, furnishing them with the knowledge of divine truths and utterance to express them. Luke xii. 12. The Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour, what yo ought to say, Mark. xiii. 11. xxi. 15. I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your
adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. Matt. x. 19, 20. xxiv. 49. Behold I send to promise of the Father unto you,
tarry ye in Jerusalem till ye be endowed with power from on high. Acts i. 4, 5, 8.
John xiv. 16. I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, even the Spirit of truth, that he may abide with you, Ver. 17.
John xiv. 26. He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I have said unto you. Luke xxiv. 49.
xvi. 7. I will send the Comforter unto you.
Ver. 13. The Spirit of truth he will guide you unto all truth, and will show you things to come. Ver. 14, 15.
Ver. 26. He shall testify of me, and ye shall also bear witness. Ver. 27.
Acts ii. 4. They were all filled with the Holy Ghost.
Ver. 14. Peter said, tbis is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel. Joel ii. 28.

Ver. 9. Eye hath not scen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things that God hath prepared for them that love him. Iga. lxiv. 8.
Ver. 10. But God hath revealed them to us by his Spirit.
Ver. 12. We haye received the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
Ver. 13. Which things we speak, not in words which man's wis. dom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth.
vii. 40. I think also that I have the Spirit of God.
2 Cor, iji. 6, God hath made us able ministers of the New Testament, not of the letter, but of the spirit, for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
Ver. 8. Ministration of the Spirit is glorious.

XI. Hence the following character is given of the Holy Scriptures, written by the firorrhets and apostles. 2 Tim. iii. 15. The holy scriptures are able to make wise unto salvation, through faith in Christ Jesus.
Ver. 16. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and instruction in righ. teousness.
Ver. 17. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. Rom. xv. 4. The scriptures were writ. len for our learning.
2 Pet.i. 21. Holy men spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. Heb. i. 1. God who at sundry times, and in divers manners spake unto the fathers by the prophets,
Ver. 2. Hath in these last days spoken by his Son unto us, whom he hath appointed heir of all things. XII. Miraculous gifts of the Spirit, upon the apostles, and some piri.'
mitive Christians. Acts ii. 4. They were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Ver. 8, 11, 17.
x. 44. While Peter spake, the Holy Ghost fell on all that heard.
Ver. 45. On the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Ver. 47. Peter said, can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Ghost.
xi. 15. The Holy Ghost fell on them, (the Gentiles) as on us.
Ver. 16. Then remembered they'the word of the Lord, ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost?
Ver. 17. God gave them, (the Gentiles) the like gift, as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Ver. 24. Barnabas was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith.
xv: 8. God which knoweth the hearts, bear them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as unto us.
xix. 6. They spake with tongues and prophesied.
Rom. xv. 18. I will not dare to speak of those things, which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed.
Ver. 19. Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God.
i Cor. xii. 4. There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
Ver. 7. The manifestation of the Spirit, is given to every man to profit withal.
'Ver. 8. To one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom, to another the word of knowledge.
Ver. 9. To another faith, to another the gifts of healing.
Ver. 10. To another the working of miracles, to another prophesy, to another the discerning of spirits, to another diverse kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. Ver. 30.
Ver. 11. But all these worketh that one and the self same Spirit, dividing severally to every man as he will.
1 Cor. xiv. 2. In the Spirit he speaketh mysteries.
Heb. ii. 4. God also bearing them witness both with signs and wonders, and with diverse miracles and gifts, of the Holy Ghost.
Concerning the gifts of tongues. See 1 Cor. xiii. 8.-xiv. 2, 5, 6, 18, 22, 23, 39. XIII. The influences of the Spirit upon the minds of Christians in
general, in their sanctification. Gen. vi. 3. God said, my Spirit shall not always strive with man. Neh. ix. 20. Thou gavest thy good Spirit to instruct them. Ps. li. il. Take not thy holy Spirit from me. Ver. 12. Uphold me with thy free Spirit. cxliii. 10. Thy Spirit is good, lead me.
Prov. i. 33. I will pour out my Spirit unto you and make known my words unto you.
Ísa. xxxii. 15. Until the Spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.
xliv. 3. I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground, I will pour my Spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring.
Isa. lix. 21. This is my covenant with them, saith the Lord, my Spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed.
Ixiii. 11. Where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?
xxxvi. 27. I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes. Ch. xxxvii. 14.
xxxix. 29. I have poured out my Spirit on the house of Israel, saith the Lord.
Mic. ii. 7. Is the Spirit of the Lord straitened?
Zec. iv. 6. Thus saith the word of the Lord, not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord, shall ye prevail.
xii. 10. I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhatitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication.
Matt. iii. 11. He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
John ii. 5. Except a man be born of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Ver. 6. That which is born of the flesh, is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit, is spirit.
Ver. 8. The wind bloweth where it listeth, thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth, so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
vi. 63. It is the Spirit that quickeneth.
vii. 39. This spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on · him should receive.
xvi. 8. He will reprove the world of sin, and of judgment.
Acts v. 32. The Holy Ghost, God hath given to them that obey him.
