AN ACT to continue "The Electoral Act, A.D. 1901. 1896," and for other purposes.

E it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and
with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of
Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:-

1 This Act may be cited as "The Electoral Act Continuation Short title. Act, 1901."

"The Electoral Act 60 Vict. No 49,

"The Electoral Act, 1896," as amended by Continuation and Amendment Act, 1899," and "The Electoral Act as amended by 63 Continuation and Amendment Act, 1900," shall remain and continue in Vict. No. 7 and full force and operation until the Thirtieth day of September, One continued.

thousand nine hundred and two, or until the present House of Assembly of Tasmania is dissolved, whichever shall first happen.

3 Notwithstanding anything contained in any Act of the Parliament of Tasmania, it shall not be necessary for the Governor to issue a Writ for the election of a Member to fill the vacancy in the Legislative Council for the District of North Esk until after the First day of May, One thousand nine hundred and two.

AN ACT to amend "The Railway Manage- A.D. 1901 ment Act, 1891." [30 December, 1901.]

BE it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and

with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as The Railway Management Amend- Short title. ment Act, 1901."

2 The words "the said Act" shall mean "The Railway Manage- Interpretation. ment Act, 1891."

3 The interpretation of the word " Minister" in Section Five of the said Act is hereby repealed, and in lieu thereof the word "Minister," when used in the said Act, and in any amendment thereof, shall mean the Responsible Minister of the Crown for the time being administering the said Act, who shall, when administering the said Act, be called or styled "The Minister for Railways

ACT to amend the Law as to the A.D. 1901. liability for Rates and Taxes on Lands and Buildings used for Sunday Schools, Mission Rooms, or Churches, or in aid of the work thereof. [30 December, 1901.]

WHEREAS it is desirable to amend the Law as to the liability for PREAMBLE.

Rates and Taxes on lands and buildings used for Sunday Schools,
Mission Rooms, or Churches, or in furtherance or in aid of the work

thereof:

Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1 No land or buildings used exclusively for all or any of the following Land or buildings purposes: viz.-As a Sunday School, Mission Room, or Church, or used exclusively exclusively for any purpose in connection with, or in furtherance or in for certain aid of, the work of such Sunday School, Mission Room, or Church, religious purposes shall be liable to the payment of any local Rate or Tax whatsoever, Rates.
