(L'Amour Peintre.)

Le Sicilien ou L'Amour Peintre was played for the first time before the Court at Saint-Germain en Laye probably on February 14, 1667, and, in public, in the Théâtre du Palais-Royal, June 10, 1667, followed by seventeen further representations in the months of June and July. Molière played the part of Dom Pèdre.

The title-page of the first edition runs thus:
