rily, is fo folemnly injoyn'd, and earnestly urged from Heaven, that 'rill we feel the pious Inclination in us, we must be guilty of an high De fect, yet were that but well fupply'd, we might foon be brought to happy Concord.

The great Hipocrates was of Opinion, (a) Φυχὶν προσμίσγεται ψυχή, That one Soul might be mingled with another, and illuftrates it by fire being mix'd with fire, pronouncing of him who does not think it true, dogwv šols, he is a Fool.

But whether mixture of Souls be practicable, or no, Union of Hearts or Minds, must be jo; for the great God requires it often, and earnestly, and he having made it our Duty, we fhould endeavour it indefatigably.

And let us all, I moft earnestly befeech you, for the Love of God, incessantly pray to the Almighty and most merciful Jefus, our common Lord and Saviour, to difpofe every one of this Church and Nation, to Christian Love, Peace and Unity, and to affift, by his Power and Bleffing, that Peace may be within our Walls, and Profperity within our Palaces. That being free from foreign Foes, and civil Feuds, we may ever flourish in fweet Unanimity, and perfect Concord. That the God, who maketh men to be of one Mind in an Houfe, would, in

Which, that we may be, let us humbly implore it at the Hands of God: Let us make it a daily Petition in our private Devotions: And, as often as we can, let us join with our Affemblies in publick Prayer, and fupplicate for Unity with becoming Zeal and Earnestness.

And till fuch time as they can either compofe, or meet with a better form, I moft heartily wish, all boly Supplicants that are Lovers of Peace and Unity, would conftantly use the fol lowing ones in their devout Retirements, and Addreffes to Heaven.

our unhappy Divifions, Take away all Hatred and Prejudice, and whatfoever else may hinder us from godly Union and Concord: That as there is but one Body, and one Spirit, and one Hope of our Calling, one Lord, one Faith, one Baptifm, one God and Father of us all: So we may benceforth, be all of one Heart, and of one Soul, united in one boly Bond of Truth and Peace, of Faith and Charity, and may with one mind, and one Mouth, glorify thee, O God, through Jefus Christ our Lord.
