12 But when Gallio was deputy of Achaia, the Jews rose, with one consent, against Paul, and brought him to the judgment-seat; 13 saying, "This man persuadeth the people to worship God contrary to the Law." 14 And Paul being about to speak, Gallio said to the Jews "If it were a matter of injustice, or of wicked mischief, Jews, I might reasonably bear with you; 15 but if it be a question of doctrine, and of names, and of your law, look ye to it yourselves: [for] I will not be judge of such matters." 16 And he removed them from the judgment-seat. 17 Then all [the Greeks] took Sosthenes, the ruler of a synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. But Gallio cared for none of those things.

And he landed at Cæsarea, and having gone up and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch. 23 And having passed some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia, in order; strengthening all the disciples.

24 AND a certain Jew, named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and versed in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. 25 This man was instructed in the doctrine of the Lord: and, being fervent in spirit, he spake and taught exactly the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John: 26 and he began to speak freely in the synagogue. But when Aquila and Priscilla had heard him, they took him to them, and explained to him more accurately the way [of God]. 27 And as he was desirous to pass into Achaia, the brethren exhorted him, and wrote to the disciples to receive him: who, when he had come among them, helped those much that had believed, through the favour bestowed on him. 28 For he earnestly confuted the Jews, and that publicly; proving by the scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.

18 AND l'aul, after he had still remained there many days, bade farewel to the brethren, and sailed from thence into Syria, and Priscilla and Aquila with him; having shorn his head at Cenchrea: for he had a vow. 19 And he came to Ephesus, and left them there and he himself entered into the synagogue, and discoursed to the Jews. 20 And when they CH. And they said, "Into John's Daptism." 4 Then Paul said, 'John baptized with the bap-"I adjure you, by Jesus, whom ism of reformation; saying to the people, that they should believe in him who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus." 5 And having heard this, they were baptized into the name of he Lord Jesus. 6 And Paul having put his hands upon hem, the holy spirit came on hem; and they spake in different languages, and prophesied. "Now all the men were about welve.

8 NOW Paul spake freely n the synagogue, for three nonths, reasoning and recomnending the things concerning he kingdom of God. 9 But as ome were hardened, and would ot believe, but spake evil of he way before the multitude, e withdrew from them, and eparated the disciples; discoursing daily in the school of ne Tyrannus. 10 And this he continued to do for the space of wo years; so that all those who welt in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.

11 And God wrought no common miracles by the hands of Paul: 12 so that, from his ody, even handkerchiefs or prons were brought to the ick; and the diseases departed

21 NOW after these things were ended, Paul purposed in his mind, after passing through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, "After I have been there, I must also see Rome." 22 So he sent into

ministered to him, Timothy and Erastus; but he himself continued a while in Asia.

23 Now at this time, there arose no small disturbance concerning this way. 24 For a certain man, named Demetrius, a silver-smith, who made silver models of Diana's temple, furnished no small gain to the workmen; 25 whom he called together, with those of like occupation, and said, "Sirs, ye know that by this employment we have our wealth: 26 moreover, ye see and hear that this Paul hath persuaded, and turned aside, no small multitude, not only of Ephesus but almost of all Asia; saying, that they are not gods which are made with hands: 27 so there is not only danger that this our occupation should come into contempt, but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and that her magnificence should be soon destroyed, whom all Asia, and the world worshippetli." 28 And having heard this, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, "Great is Diana of the Ephesians.”

29 And the whole city was filled with confusion; and having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's fellow-travellers, they rushed with one consent into the theatre. 30 Upon this Paul had a mind to go to the people, but the disciples did not permit him. 31 And even some of the chief magistrates of Asia,

him, advising him not to ve ture into the theatre. 32 Son therefore cried one thing, a some another: for the assemb was confused, and the great part knew not why they we come together. 33 Then Ale ander was advanced out of t crowd, the Jews pushing hi forward. And Alexander wa ing his hand, would have ma a defence to the people: 34 t they knowing him to be a Je all with one voice, for abc two hours, cried out, "Great Diana of the Ephesians.'

35 At length the record having stilled the crowd, sa "Men of Ephesus, what m is there, who knoweth 1 that the city of the Ephesi is a worshipper of the gr Diana, and of the image whi fell down from Jupiter? CH. XX. 1 NOW this tumult being over, Paul sent for the disciples, and took leave of them, and departed to go into Macedonia. 2 And having gone over those parts, and given them much exhortation, he 12 Now when they brought came into Greece. 3 And after up the young man alive; and he had continued three months, were not a little comforted, 13 the Jews having lain in wait we went before, to the ship, and for him, as he was about to sail sailed to Assos, there intending into Syria, he determined to to take in Paul for so he had return through Macedonia. 4 appointed, intending himself to And Sopater, the son of Pyrr-go by land. 14 And, having us, a Berean, accompanied im as far as Asia; but Arisarchus and Secundus, of the Thessalonians, and Gaius, of Derbè, and Timothy, and Tyhicus and Trophimus of Asia, these went before, and waited ›r us at Troas. 6 And we saild away from Philippi after the ays of unleavened bread, and e came to them at Troas in ve days; where we abode even days.

7 And on the first day of the eek, the disciples having asembled to break bread, Paul iscoursed to them, being about › depart on the morrow; and ontinued his discourse until idnight. 8 And there were any lamps in the upper room, here we were assembled. 9 Tow a certain young man, amed Eutychus, sat in a win>w; and having fallen into a eep sleep, as Paul discoursed long time, he sunk down ith sleep, and fell to the round from the third story, and

17 AND from Miletus Paul sent to Ephesus, and called' to him the elders of the church. 18 And having come to him, he said to them, "Ye know, from the first day since I came into Asia, in what manner I have conducted myself with you the whole time; 19 serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with tears, and trials which befel me by the lyings in wait of the Jews: 20 and that I have not kept back any thing, which

was profitable to you; but have shown it to you, and have taught you, publicly and from house to house; 21 announcing both to Jews and Greeks repentance towards God, and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ.

22" And now, behold, I am strongly impressed in mind to go to Jerusalem; not knowing the things which will befal me there, 23 except that the holy spirit witnesseth to me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions await me. 24 But I make no account of any thing, nor do I regard [my] life, as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course [with joy], and the ministry which I have received from the Lord Jesus, to declare the gracious gospel of God. 25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the reign [of God], will see my face no more. 26 Wherefore I declare to you this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men; 27 for I have kept nothing back, but have declared to you the whole counsel of God.

28 "Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock; among whom the holy spirit hath made you overseers, to feed the church of the Lord, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29 [For] I know [this], that after my departure, grievous, wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 From among your own selves also, will men arise, speaking perverse things,

to draw away disciples af them. 31 Watch therefore, a remember, that for three yea night and day, I ceased not admonish every one with tea 32" And now, [brethren, commend you to God, and the word of his favour, which able to edify you, and to g you an inheritance among those that are sanctified. 36 And when he had th spoken, he kneeled down, a prayed with them all. 37 A they all wept much, and fell Paul's neck, and kissed hir 38 sorrowing most for t words which he had spoke that they were to see his fa no more. And they conduct him on his way to the ship.
