Does God Live in the Suburbs?: What Ordinary People Believe

Couverture
Indra Publishing, 2007 - 346 pages
This book presents the religious beliefs of ordinary individuals. Author Myer Bloom interviews average Australian believers of various faiths not militants, theologians, nor clerics. In their own words, these individuals describe what they believe and how they practice their own faiths. Though the focus is on Australian believers, the book will provide an indirect insight into the beliefs of individuals in the US and Canada, since national surveys indicate 81% of Americans and 83.5% of Canadians have declared a religious affiliation. Myer Bloom, who lives in Melbourne, researches and teaches in the sociology of religion. His record includes interviewing survivors in Australia and New Zealand for Steven Spielberg's Survivors of the Shoah.
