L'Amour Médecin was represented for the first time at Versailles on September 14 or 15, 1665: on the 22nd of the same month it made its first public appearance on the stage of the Palais Royal, Paris, and it occupied the boards from that date to the 29th of November. It was published the year after with a frontispiece concerning which it is maintained that the portrait of Sganarelle (who is represented as acting the end of Act I, ii.), is a portrait of Molière. Written by order of the king, it was sketched, composed, learned and acted in five days. THE OPERATOR, ORVIÉTAN. Several Trivelins and Scaramouches. Comedy. Music. Ballet.
