and of all the crowd that flocked to pay their last tribute of respect, none asked whither she had taken her journey. Her life made them forget, who had prejudices against her faith. When in 1839 she felt herself called upon (for she did her own thinking) to leave the Baptis's for that ground on which alone she believed the people of God could, and ultimately would unite, no one could mistake her affectionate and God-honoring countenance for that expression of quibbling inquietude so characteristic of the restless religionist.

But she fell most suddenly and unexpectedly, without premonitory sickness, in her 50th year, in the meridian of her usefulness, leaving no natural child to mourn her death; but more than one, to whom she has been more than mother, will long look sorrowing towards the mound of our dear departed sister. May the Lord sustain her deeply afflicted husband! C. BULLARD.

PROSPECTUS OF THE "JOURNAL AND UNION," FOR 1848. THIS widely circulating, and, as hundreds testify, highly interesting paper, has been enlarged to the double medium size, and is published at one dollar per year, in advance. It contains such matter as a family paper ought to contain, which may be classified under the following heads:1. Foreign News. 2. Domestic Items. 3. Original Correspondence. 4. News from the Churches. 5. War Intelligence. 6. Queries and Answers. 7. Religious Discussions. 8. Copious Editorial Essays, &c. &c.

We request any one who may see this Prospectus in any newspaper, pamphlet, letter, or book, to send for the Journal and Union at his convenience, by enclosing the amount, one dollar, in a letter directed to me. You need not subscribe a Prospectus; either be an agent for yourself, or give your name to any agent who is convenient. Address

ARTHUR CRIHFIELD, Covington, Ky. N. B. The arrangements heretofore made with local or travelling agents, remain the same in all respects. Six copies are sent for $5; twelve for $10, &c. &c. It is desirable that payment, in all cases, be made in advance.

The person into whose hands this Prospectus falls, is most earnestly requested to make up a company of subscribers. If all try, the requisite number will be had. A. C.

The "Universaliad," by Elder Crihfield, in five cantos, at which I have but glanced, is said to be a very powerful poem, alike fatal to the Universalians and the Muses. The method of killing two birds with one stone is admirable economy. And as Sampson set the example, saying, "Let me die with the Philistines," why may not the genius of poetry, impersonated in the Universaliad, say, Let me die with the Universalists'?-A noble martyrdom in a glorious cause! The Universalians will not, however, long stay killed; for it is only a few months since they were duly killed by bro ther Hall, and yet it seems they have some way or other called for a second death! A. CAMPBELL.

A notice of this "Institute," conducted by our energetic brother W. S. SPEER, recently a student of Bethany College, is unavoidably crowded out of this number. We will try and present his circular in our next.
