37 Wer ein solches Kindlein in meinem Namen aufnimmt, der nimmt mich auf; und wer mich aufnimmt, der nimmt nicht mich auf, sondern den, der mich gesandt hat.

38 Johannes aber antwortete ihm, und sprach: Meister, wir sahen einen, der trieb Teufel in deinem Namen aus, welcher und nicht nachfolgte; und wir verboten es ihm, darum, daß er uns nicht nachfolgte.

39 Jesus aber sprach: Ihr sollt es ihm nicht verbieten. Denn es ist Niemand, der eine That thue in meinem Namen, und möge bald übel von mir

reden.

40 Wer nicht wider uns ist, der ist für uns.

41 Wer aber euch tränket mit einem Becher Wassers in meinem Namen, darum, daß ihr Christo angehöret, wahrlich, ich sage euch, es wird ihm nicht unvergolten bleiben.

42 Und wer der Kleinen einen ärgert, die an mich glauben, dem wäre es besser, daß ihm ein Mühlstein an seinen Hals gehängt würde, und er in das Meer geworfen würde.

43 So dich aber deine Hand ärgert, so haue sie ab. Es ist dir besser, daß du ein Krüppel zum Leben eingehest, denn daß du zwo Hände habest, und fahrest in die Hölle, in das ewige Feuer;

44 Da ihr Wurm nicht stirbt, und ihr Feuer nicht verlöschet.

45 Aergert dich dein Fuß, so haue ihn ab. Es ist dir besser, daß du lahm zum Leben eingehest, denn daß du zween Füße habest, und werdest in die Hölle geworfen, in das ewige Feuer;

46 Da ihr Wurm nicht stirbt, und ihr Feuer nicht verlöschet.

47 Aergert dich dein Auge, so wirf es von dir. Es ist dir besser, daß du einäugig in das Reich Gottes gehest, denn daß du zwey Augen habeft, und werdest in das höllische Feuer geworfen; 48 Da ihr Wurm nicht stirbt, und ihr Feuer nicht verlöschet.

49 Es muß alles mit Feuer gesalzen

37 Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.

38 ¶ And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us; and we forbade him, because he followeth not us.

39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.

40 For he that is not against us, is on our part.

41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the

sea.

43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

44 Where their worm dicth not, and the fire is not quenched.

45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes, to be cast into hell-fire:

48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 49 For every one shall be salted

13 Und sie brachten Kindlein zu ihm, baß er sie anrührete. Die Jünger aber fuhren die an, die sie trugen.

14 Da es aber Jesus sah, ward er unwillig, und sprach zu ihnen: Lasset die Kindlein zu mir fommen, und wehret ihnen nicht, denn solcher ist das Reich Gottes.

13 T And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them; and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.

14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of God.

16 Und er herzte sie, und legte die Hände auf sie, und segnete sie.

17 Und da er hinaus gegangen war auf den Weg, lief einer vorne vor, knicete vor ihm, und fragte ihn: Guter Meister, was soll ich thun, daß ich das ewige Leben ererbe?

18 Aber Jesus sprach zu ihm: Was heißest du mich gut? Niemand ist gut, denn der einige Gott.

19 Du weißt ja die Gebote wohl : Du sollst nicht chebrechen. Du sollst nicht tödten. Du sollst nicht stehlen. Du sollst nicht falsches Zeugniß reden. Du sollst Niemand täuschen. Ehre peinen Vater und Mutter.

20 Er antwortete aber, und sprach zu ihm: Meister, das habe ich alles gehalten von meiner Jugend auf.

21 Und Jesus sah ihn an, und liebte ihn, und sprach zu ihm: Eins fehlt dir. Gehe hin, verkaufe alles, was du haft, und gib es den Armen; so wirst du einen Schatz im Himmel haben; und komm, folge mir nach, und nimm das Kreuz auf dich.

22 Er aber ward Unmuths über der Rede, und ging traurig davon; denn er hatte viele Güter.

23 Und Jesus sah um sich, und sprach zu seinen Jüngern: Wie schwerlich werden die Reichen in das Reich Gottes kommen!

16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good, but one, that is God.

19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.

21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and

follow me.

22 And he was sad at that say. ing, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

tete wiederum, und sprach zu ihnen: Liebe Kinder, wie schwerlich ist es, daß die, so ihr Vertrauen auf Reichthum setzen, ins Reich Gottes fommen!

25 Es ist leichter, daß ein Kameel durch ein Nadelöhr gehe, denn daß ein Reicher ins Reich Gottes komme.

26 Sie entsetzten sich aber noch vielmehr, und sprachen unter einander: Wer kann denn selig werden?

27 Jesus aber sah sie an, und sprach: Beh den Menschen ist es unmöglich, aber nicht bey Gott; denn alle Dinge sind möglich bey Gott.

28 Da sagte Petrus zu ihm: Siehe, wir haben alles verlassen, und sind dir nachgefolget.

29 Jesus antwortete, und sprach: Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Es ist Niemand, so er verläßt Haus, oder Brüder, oder Schwestern, oder Vater, oder Mutter, oder Weib, oder Kinder, oder Aecker, um meinet willen, und um des Evangelii willen;

30 Der nicht hundertfältig empfange, jetzt in dieser Zeit, Häufer, und Brü- | der, und Schwestern, und Mütter, und Kinder, und Aecker, mit Verfolgungen, und in der zukünftigen Welt das ewige Leben.

31 Viele aber werden die Letzten seyn, die die Ersten sind; und die Ersten feyn, die die Letzten sind.

32 Sie waren aber auf dem Wege, und gingen hinauf gen Jerufalem; und Jesus ging vor ihnen, und sie entsetzten sich, folgten ihm nach, und fürchteten sich. Und Jesus nahm aber mal zu sich die Zwölfe, und sagte ihnen, was ihm widerfahren würde:

33 Siche, wir gehen hinauf gen Jerusalem, und des Menschen Sohn wird überantwortet werden den Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten; und sle werden ihn verdammen zum Tode, und überantworten den Heiden.

34 Die werden ihn verspotten und geißeln, und verspehen, und tödten; und am dritten Tage wird er auferste hen.

answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26 And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?

27 And Jesus looking upon them, saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

28 T Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.

29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,

30 But he shall receive an hundred-fold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come, eternal life.

31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

32 T And they were in the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,

33 Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles; 34 And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him : and the third day he shall rise again.

36 Er sprach zu ihnen: Was wollt ihr, daß ich euch thue?

37 Sie sprachen zu ihm: Gib uns, daß wir sitzen, einer zu deiner Rechten, und einer zu deiner Linken, in deiner Herrlichkeit.

38 Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Ihr wisset nicht, was ihr bittet. Rönnet ihr den Kelch trinken, den ich trinke, und euch taufen lassen mit der Taufe, da ich mit getauft werde?

39 Sie sprachen zu ihm: Ja, wir können es wohl. Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Zwar ihr werdet den Kelch trinken, den ich trinke, und getauft werden mit der Taufe, da ich mit getauft werde;

40 Zu sitzen aber zu meiner Rechten und zu meiner Linken, stehet mir nicht zu, euch zu geben, sondern welchen es bereitet ist.

41 Und da das die Zehn höreten, wurden sie unwillig über Jakobum und Johannem.

42 Aber Jesus rief sie, und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr wisset, daß die weltlichen Fürsten herrschen, und die Mächtigen unter ihnen haben Gewalt.

43 Aber also soll es unter euch nicht feyn; sondern welcher will groß werden unter euch, der soll euer Diener seyn.

44 Und welcher unter euch will der Vornehmste werden, der soll aller Knecht seyn.

45 Denn auch des Menschen Sohnist nicht gekommen, daßer ihm dienen lasse; sondern, daß er diene, und gebe sein Leben zur Bezahlung für Viele.

46 Und sie kamen gen Jericho. Und da er aus Jericho ging, Er und seine Jünger, und ein großes Volk, da faß ein Blinder, Bartimäus, Timãi Sohn, am Wege, und bettelte.

35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.

36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you? 37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.

38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:

40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand, is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.

42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles, exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. 43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minis

ter:

44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of

all.

45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

46 T And they came to Jericho : and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples, and a great number of people, blind Bartimeus, the son of Timeus, sat by the highway side begging.
