13 Und sie brachten Kindlein zu ihm, baß er sie anrührete. Die Jünger aber fuhren die an, die sie trugen.

14 Da es aber Jesus sah, ward er unwillig, und sprach zu ihnen: Lasset die Kindlein zu mir kommen, und wehret ihnen nicht, denn solcher ist das Reich Gottes.

15 Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wer das Neich Gottes nicht empfänget als ein Kindlein, der wird nicht hinein kom

men.

16 Und er herzte sie, und legte die Hände auf sie, und segnete sie.

17 Und da er hinaus gegangen war auf den Weg, lief einer vorne vor, knicete vor ihm, und fragte ihn: Guter Meister, was soll ich thun, daß ich das ewige Leben ererbe?

18 Aber Jesus sprach zu ihm: Was heißest du mich gut? Niemand ist gut, denn der einige Gott.

19 Du weißt ja die Gebote wohl : Du sollst nicht chebrechen. Du sollst nicht tödten. Du sollst nicht stehlen. Du sollst nicht falsches Zeugniß reden. Du sollst Niemand täuschen. Ehre deinen Vater und Mutter.

20 Er antwortete aber, und sprach zu ihm: Meister, das habe ich alles gehalten von meiner Jugend auf.

21 Und Jesus sah ihn an, und liebte ihn, und sprach zu ihm: Eins fehlt dir. Gehe hin, verkaufe alles, was du haft, und gib es den Armen; so wirst du einen Schatz im Himmel haben; und komm, folge mir nach, und nimm das Kreuz auf dich.

22 Er aber ward Unmuths über der Rede, und ging traurig davon; denn er hatte viele Güter.

23 Und Jesus sah um sich, und sprach zu seinen Jüngern: Wie schwerlich werden die Reichen in das Neich Gottes kommen!

13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them; and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.

14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of God.

15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good, but one, that is God.

19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.

21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

22 And he was sad at that say. ing, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

23 T And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

26 Sie entsetzten sich aber noch vielmehr, und sprachen unter einander: Wer kann denn selig werden?

27 Jesus aber sah sie an, und sprach: Bey den Menschen ist es unmöglich, aber nicht bey Gott; denn alle Dinge sind möglich bey Gott.

28 Da sagte Petrus zu ihm: Siehe, wir haben alles verlassen, und sind dir nachgefolget.

29 Jesus antwortete, und sprach: Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Es ist Niemand, so er verläßt Haus, oder Brüder, oder Schwestern, oder Vater, oder Mutter, oder Weib, oder Kinder, oder Aecker, um meinet willen, und um des Evangelii willen;

30 Der nicht hundertfältig empfange, jetzt in dieser Zeit, Häufer, und Brüder, und Schwestern, und Mütter, und Kinder, und Aecker, mit Verfolgungen, und in der zukünftigen Welt das ewige Leben.

31 Viele aber werden die Letzten seyn, die die Ersten sind; und die Ersten seyn, die die Letzten sind.

32 Sie waren aber auf dem Wege, und gingen hinauf gen Jerufalem; und Jesus ging vor ihnen, und sie entsetzten sich, folgten ihm nach, und | fürchteten sich. Und Jesus nahm abermal zu sich die Zwölfe, und sagte ihnen, was ihm widerfahren würde:

33 Siche, wir gehen hinauf gen Jerusalem, und des Menschen Sohn wird überantwortet werden den Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten; und fle werden ihn verdammen zum Tode, und überantworten den Heiden.

34 Die werden ihn verspotten und geißeln, und verspeyen, und tödten; und am dritten Tage wird er auferstehen.

25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26 And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?

27 And Jesus looking upon them, saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.

29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,

30 But he shall receive an hundred-fold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come, eternal life.

31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

32 T And they were in the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,

33 Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles;

34 And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him : and the third day he shall rise again.

35 Da gingen zu ihm Jakobus und Johannes, die Söhne Zebedäi, und sprachen: Meister, wir wollen, daß du uns thuest, was wir dich bitten werden.

36 Er sprach zu ihnen: Was wollt ihr, daß ich euch thue?

37 Sie sprachen zu ihm: Gib uns, daß wir sitzen, einer zu deiner Rechten, und einer zu deiner Linken, in deiner Herrlichkeit.

38 Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Ihr wisset nicht, was ihr bittet. Könnet ihr den Kelch trinken, den ich trinke, und euch taufen lassen mit der Taufe, da ich mit getauft werde?

39 Sie sprachen zu ihm: Ja, wir können es wohl. Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Zwar ihr werdet den Kelch trinken, den ich trinke, und getauft werden mit der Taufe, da ich mit getauft werde;

40 Zu sitzen aber zu meiner Rechten und zu meiner Linken, stehet mir nicht zu, euch zu geben, sondern welchen es bereitet ist.

41 Und da das die Zehn höreten, wurden sie unwillig über Jakobum und Johannem.

42 Aber Jesus rief sie, und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr wisset, daß die weltlichen Fürsten herrschen, und die Mächtigen unter ihnen haben Gewalt.

43 Aber also soll es unter euch nicht seyn; sondern welcher will groß werden unter euch, der soll euer Diener seyn.

44 Und welcher unter euch will der Vornehmste werden, der soll aller Knecht seyn.

45 Denn auch des Menschen Sohn ist nicht gekommen, daßer ihm dienen lasse; sondern, daß er diene, und gebe sein Leben zur Bezahlung für Viele.

46 Und sie kamen gen Jericho. Und da er aus Jericho ging, Er und seine Jünger, und ein großes Volk, da saß ein Blinder, Bartimäus, Timãi Sohn, am Wege, und bettelte.

35 ¶ And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.

36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you? 37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.

38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? 39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:

40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand, is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.

42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles, exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. 43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minis

ter:

44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

46 T And they came to Jericho : and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples, and a great number of people, blind Bartimeus, the son of Timeus, sat by the highway side begging.

50 Und er warf sein Kleid von sich, stand auf, und kam zu Jesu.

51 Und Jesus antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Was willst du, daß ich dir thun soll? Der Blinde sprach zu ihm: Rabboni, daß ich sehend werde.

52 Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Gehe hin, dein Glaube hat dir geholfen. Und alsobald ward er sehend, und folgte ihm nach auf dem Wege.

Das 11 Capitel. 11nd da sie nahe zu Jerusalem kamen, gen Bethphage und Bethanien an den Dehlberg, sandte Er seiner Jünger zween,

2 Und sprach zu ihnen: Gehet hin in den Flecken, der vor euch liegt, und | alsobald, wenn ihr hinein kommt, werdet ihr finden ein Füllen angebunden, auf welchem nie kein Mensch gesessen ist. Löset es ab, und führet es her.

3 Und so Jemand zu euch sagen wird: Warum thut ihr das? So sprechet: Der Herr bedarf sein. So wird er es bald hersenden.

4 Sie gingen hin, und fanden das Füllen gebunden an der Thüre, draußen auf dem Wegscheide, und löseten es ab.

5 Und etliche, die da standen, sprachen zu ihnen: Was macht ihr, daß ihr das Füllen ablöset?

6 Sie sagten aber zu ihnen, wie

50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

CHAPTER XI.

ND when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage, and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,

2 And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.

3 And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.

4 And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without, in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.

5 And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?

6 And they said unto them even

9 Und die vorné vorgingen, und die hernach folgten, schrieen und sprachen: Hosianna, gelobet sey, der da fommt in dem Namen des Herrn!

10 Gelobet sey das Reich unsers Vaters Davids, das da kommt in dem Namen des Herrn, Hosianna in der Höhe!

11 Und der Herr ging ein zu Jerufalem, und in den Tempel; und er befah alles. und am Abend ging er hinaus gen Bethanien mit den Zwölfen.

12 und des andern Tages, da sie von Bethanien gingen, hungerte ihn.

13 Und sah einen Feigenbaum von ferne, der Blätter hatte; da trat er hinzu, ob er etwas darauf fände. Und da er hinzu kam, fand er nichts, denn nur Blätter; denn es war noch nicht Zeit, daß Feigen seyn sollten.

14 Und Jesus antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Nun esse von dir Niemand keine Frucht ewiglich! Und seine Jünger höreten das.

15 Und sie famen gen Jerusalem. Und Jesus ging in den Tempel, fing an, und trieb aus die Verkäufer und Käufer in dem Tempel; und die Tische der Wechsler, und die Stühle der Tauben-Krämer stieß er um;

16 und ließ nicht zu, daß Jemand etwas durch den Tempel trüge.

17 Und er lehrete, und sprach zu ihnen: Stehet nicht geschrieben: Mein Haus soll heißen ein Bethaus allen Bölfern? Ihr aber habt eine Mördergrube daraus gemacht.

18 Und es kam vor die Schriftgelehrten und Hohenpriester; und sie

11 And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany, with the twelve.

12 ¶ And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry.

13 And seeing a fig-tree afar off, having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves: for the time of figs was not yet.

14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

15 T And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of them that sold doves;

16 And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.

17 And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called, of all nations, the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

18 And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how
