sprach: Das ist mein Leib, der für euch gegeben wird; das thut zu meinem Gedächtniß.

20 Deffelbigen gleichen auch den Kelch, nach dem Abendmahle, und sprach: Das ist der Kelch, das neue Testament in meinem Blute, das für euch vergossen wird.

21 Doch stehe, die Hand meines Verräthers ist mit mir über Tische.

22 Und zwar des Menschen Sohn gehet hin, wie es beschlossen ist. Doch wehe demselbigen Menschen, durch wel chen er verrathen wird!

23 Und sie fingen an zu fragen unter sich selbst, welcher es doch wäre unter ihnen, der das thun würde?

24 E8 erhob sich auch ein Zank unter ihnen, welcher unter ihnen sollte für den Größesten gehalten werden?

25 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Die weltlichen Könige herrschen, und die Gewaltigen heißt man gnädige Herren;

26 Ihr aber nicht also; sondern der Größeste unter euch soll seyn wie der Jüngste, und der Vornehmste wie ein Diener.

27 Denn welcher ist der Größeste? Der zu Tische sitzet, oder der da dienet? Ist es nicht also, daß der zu Tische sitzet? Ich aber bin unter euch wie ein Diener.

28 Ihr aber feyd es, die ihr beharret habt beh mir in meinen Anfechtungen.

29 Und ich will euch das Reich bescheiden, wie mirs mein Vater beschieden hat;

30 Daß ihr essen und trinken sollt über meinem Tische in meinem Reiche, und sitzen auf Stühlen, und richten die zwölf Geschlechter Ifraels.

31 Der Herr aber sprach: Simon, Simon! siche, der Satanas hat euer begehret, daß er euch möchte sichten, wie den Weizen.

32 Ich aber habe für dich gebeten, daß dein Glaube nicht aufhöre. Und wenn du dermaleinst dich bekehrest, so stärke deine Brüder.

gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

21 T But behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.

22 And truly the Son of man goeth as it was determined: but wo unto that man by whom he is betrayed!

23 And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.

25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.

27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

28 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.

29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed

unto me;

30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired• to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

33 Er sprach aber zu ihm: Herr, ich bin bereit, mit dir ins Gefängniß und in den Tod zu gehen.

34 Er aber sprach: Petre, ich sage dir, der Hahn wird heute nicht frähen, che denn du dreymal verleugnet hast, daß du mich kennest.

35 Und er sprach zu ihnen: So oft ich euch gesandt habe ohne Beutel, ohne Tasche, und ohne Schuhe, habt ihr auch je Mangel gehabt? Sie sprachen: Nie keinen.

36 Da sprach er zu ihnen : Aber nun, wer einen Beutel hat, der nehme ihn, desselbigen gleichen auch die Tasche. Wer aber nicht hat, verkaufe sein Kleid, und kaufe ein Schwert.

37 Denn ich sage euch: Es muß noch das auch vollendet werden an mir, das geschrieben stehet: Er ist unter die Uebelthäter gerechnet. Denn was von mir geschrieben ist, das hat ein Ende.

38 Sie sprachen aber: Herr, stehe, hier sind zweh Schwerter. Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Es ist genug.

39 Und er ging hinaus nach seiner Gewohnheit an den Oehlberg. Es folgten ihm aber seine Jünger nach an denselbigen Ort.

40 Und als er dahin kam, sprach er zu ihnen: Betet, auf daß ihr nicht in Anfechtung fallet.

41 Und er riß sich von ihnen beh einem Steinwurfe, und knieete nieder, betete,

42 Und sprach: Vater, willst du, so nimm diesen Kelch von mir: doch nicht mein, sondern dein Wille geschehe.

43 Es erschien ihm aber ein Engel vom Himmel, und stärkte ihn.

44 Und es fam, daß er mit dem Tode rang und betete heftiger. Es mard aber sein Schweiß wie Blutstrop*fen, die fielen auf die Erde.

45 Und er stand auf von dem Gebete, und kam zu seinen Jüngern, und fand sie schlafen vor Traurigkeit.

35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

39 T And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,

42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless, not my will, but thine, be done.

43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

44 And being in an agony, he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

fet ihr? Stehet auf und betet, auf daß ihr nicht in Anfechtung fallet. 47 Da er aber noch redete, siehe die Schaar, und einer von den Zwölfen, genannt Judas, ging vor ihnen her, und nahete sich zu Jesu, ihn zu küssen.

48 Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Juda! verräthst du des Menschen Sohn mit einem Kuß?

49 Da aber sahen, die um ihn waren, was da werden wollte, sprachen sie zu ihm: Herr, sollen wir mit dem Schwerte drein schlagen?

50 und einer aus ihnen schlug des Hohenpriesters Knecht, und hieb ihm sein rechtes Ohr ab.

51 Jesus aber antwortete, und sprach: Laßt sie doch so ferne machen." Und er rührete sein Ohr an, und heilete ihn. 52 Jesus aber sprach zu den Hohenpriestern, und Häupticuten des Tempels, und den Aeltesten, die über ihn gekommen waren: Ihr sehd, als zu einem Mörder, mit Schwertern und mit Stangen ausgegangen.

53 Ich bin täglich beh euch im Tempel gewesen, und ihr habt keine Hand an mich gelegt: aber dies ist eure Stunde, und die Macht der Finsterniß. 54 Sie griffen ihn aber, und führeten ihn und brachten ihn in des Hohenpriesters Haus. Petrus aber folgte von ferne.

55 Da zündeten sie ein Feuer an mitten im Pallaste, und setzten sich zusammen, und Petrus setzte sich unter sie.

56 Da sah ihn eine Magd sitzen beh dem Lichte, und sah eben auf ihn, und sprach zu ihm: Dieser war auch mit ihm. 57 Er aber verleugnete ihn, und sprach: Weib, ich kenne ihn nicht.

58 Und über eine kleine Weile sah ihn ein Anderer, und sprach: Du bist auch deren Einer. Petrus aber sprach: Mensch, ich bin es nicht.

59 Und über eine Weile, beh einer Stunde, bekräftigte es ein anderer, und sprach: Wahrlich, dieser war auch mit ihm; denn er ist ein Galiläer.

sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

47 ¶ And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.

48 But Jesus said unto him, Ju- . das, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?

49 When they which were about him, saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders which were come to him, Be ye come out as against a thief, with swords and staves?

53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness. 54 T Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.

55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.

56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.

57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.

58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.

59 And about the space of one hour after, another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him; for he is a Galilean.

4 Pilatus sprach zu den Hohenpriestern und zum Volke: Ich finde keine Ursache an diesem Menschen.

5 Sie aber hielten an und sprachen: Er hat das Volk erreget, damit, daß er gelehret hat hin und her im ganzen jüdischen Lande, und hat in Galiläa angefangen, bis hieher.

6 Da aber Pilatus Galiläam hörete; fragte er, ob er aus Galiläa wäre.

7 Und als er vernahm, daß er unter Herodis Obrigkeit gehörete; übersandte er ihn zu Herodes, welcher in denselbigen Tagen auch zu Jerusalem war.

8 Da aber Herodes Jesum sah, ward er sehr froh, denn er hätte ihn längst gerne gesehen; denn er hatte viel von ihm gehöret, und hoffte, er würde ein Zeichen von ihm sehen.

9 Und er fragte ihn mancherleh; Er antwortete ihm aber nichts.

10 Die Hohenpriester aber Schriftgelehrten standen und verklagten ihn hart.

11 Aber Herodes mit seinem Hofgesinde verachtete und verspottete ihn, legte ihm ein weißes Kleid an, und fandte ihn wieder zu Pilato.

12 Auf den Tag wurden Pilatus und Herodes Freunde mit einander; denn zuvor waren sie einander feind.

13 Pilatus aber rief die Hohenpriester und die Obersten, und das Volk zusammen,

14 Und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr habt diesen Menschen zu mir gebracht, als der das Volk abwende. Und siehe, ich habe ihn vor euch verhöret, und finde an dem Menschen der Sachen keine, der ihr ihn beschuldiget.

15 Herodes auch nicht; denn ich habe euch zu ihm gesandt; und siche, man hat nichts auf ihn gebracht, das des Todes werth sey.

4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests, and to the people, I find no fault in this man.

5 And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.

6 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilean..

7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself was also at Jerusalem at that time.

8 ¶ And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him. 9 Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.

10 And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.

11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together; for before they were at enmity between themselves.

13 And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests, and the rulers, and the people,

14 Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man, touching those things whereof ye accuse him;

15 No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and lo, nothing wor of death is done unto him:
