PUBLISHERS' NOTE

IN compliance with a demand for separate Histories of the Early Eastern Monarchies, of Greece, and of Rome, we present herewith an edition of the MANUAL OF ANCIENT HISTORY in three Parts. The First embraces the Pre-classical Period and that of Persian Ascendency; the Second, Greece and the Macedonian Monarchies ; the Third, Rome, as Kingdom, Republic, and Empire.

For convenience of reference, the numbering of pages and Books corresponds with that of the larger Manual, so that these separate Parts can be used in classes partially supplied with the complete Ancient History.
