B. F. STEVENS,
London.

Messrs. STEVENS BROTHERS,

17 Henrietta Street, Covent Garden,

London, W. C.,

Have established an American and Foreign Commission House for Publishing, Bookselling, and the execution generally of

LITERARY AND SCIENTIFIC ORDERS,

both for Import and Export, and have undertaken the continuance of the current miscellaneous business of their brother, MR. HENRY STEVENS, of 4 TRAFALGAR SQUARE, which was commenced in 1845.

In the execution of orders for the purchase or sale of early printed and scarce books they will have the benefit of the advice and long bibliographical experience of MR. HENRY STEVENS, who, as heretofore, devotes himself to the purchase and sale of rare books.

Messrs. STEVENS BROTHERS are the special agents of the

International Library Exchange,

established by the "American Geographical and Statistical Society of New York," and are constantly making consignments through that Institution of

BOOKS, MAPS, PHILOSOPHICAL APPARATUS, MAGAZINES, &c.,

for Departments of the U. S. Government, Public Institutions, Libraries, Colleges, and Incorporated Societies.

Messrs. STEVENS BROTHERS are honored with the special Agency of several American and British Institutions.

Parcels of a literary or scientific character presented by Institutions or individuals in the United States or Canada to individuals or Institutes in Great Britain or on the Continent, are received and distributed with punctuality and economy.

including weekly packages for France and Germany, are forwarded under special arrangements by the INMAN STEAMERS, sailing every Wednesday from Liverpool. Consignments from America are made by the same line every Saturday from New York.

Book, Pamphlet, or Magazine (not a reprint) published in America.

DR. McCOSH'S NEW BOOK.—JUST READY.

AN EXAMINATION OF MR. J. S. MILL'S PHILOSOPHY. Being a Defence of Fundamental Truth. By JAMES McCosн, LL. D. $300.

BY THE SAME AUTHOR.
NEW EDITIONS.

THE METHOD OF DIVINE GOVERNMENT, PHYSICAL AND MORAL

8vo. $250.

It is refreshing to read a work so distinguished for originality and soundness of thinking.-Sir William Hamilton. Dr. McCosh's work is of the compact cast and thought-eliciting complexion that men will not willingly let die.Hugh Miller.

TYPICAL FORMS AND SPECIAL ENDS IN CREATION. $2 50.

It is alike comprehensive in its range, accurate and minute in its details, original in its structure, and devout in its tone and tendency.

INTUITIONS OF THE MIND. New Edition. $3 00.

As a thinker Dr. McCosh has the rare and inestimable faculty of constructive thought. His work on "The Intuitions of the Mind" seems to us the noblest contribution made to the speculative philosophy of Scotland since the days of Reid.Peter Bayne.

SCHOOL AND HOME.

Boys. 16mo. $1 25.

Leaves from a Boy's Journal.

A Tale for School

A very good book for boys, and one they will read with unabated interest. The influence of a Christian boy among his fellows is admirably illustrated, and the fact that wisdom's ways are ways of pleasantness is fully proven.

NELLIE'S STUMBLING-BLOCK. By the Author of "Little Katy and Jolly

Jim," &c. 16mo. $1 25.

A good story with an excellent purpose. Nellie's Stumbling-Block was a bad temper, the sad results of which are powerfully drawn. The power of divine grace to change this evil passion is shown in the sequel of the story.

THE OLD PICTURE BIBLE. 18 fine illustrations. 16mo. $1 25.

This popular writer, in a series of conversations between an intelligent Mother and two little children, over the pages of an old-fashioned Bible, full of pictures, gives the story of the blessed Saviour-His Birth, Miracles, Parables, Sufferings, Death, and Resurrection. The conversations are spirited and well calculated to interest the younger children. The print is large, and the engravings numerous and good.

A NUTSHELL OF KNOWLEDGE. By A. L. O. E. 18mo. 90 cents.

Under the guise of a little Fairy ("Know-a-bit") a great variety of information about common things is conveyed in a singularly attractive way by this pleasant and instructive story.

1

RESCUED FROM EGYPT. By A. L. O. E. 16mo. $1 50.

This admirable story is on the same plan as "The Shepherd of Bethlehem," and the "Exiles in Babylon," but detailing the story of Moses. It is equally fascinating with its predecessors, and full of instruction.
