New Union (Explanatory) Question-Books.

The Committee of Publication have for some time had in preparation a new series of Question-Books, of which the characteristics are as follows:

1. Fifty-two lessons in each book, one lesson for each Sunday. 2. Each lesson on two pages, opening at once.

3. The books are so constructed as to enable the teacher to dispense with commentaries and other subsidiary volumes, each question being answered in full; whilst, at the same time, those who possess such aids can continue their researches at will.

4. The geographical portions are illustrated by graphic extracts from the works of Oriental travellers, which give to the mind a sense of reality that dry topographical details fail to convey.

5. The sacred text upon which the questions are proposed, is printed in full (a great convenience, especially in a scarcity of Bibles), and this text and the answers to the questions are 16mo. 12 illustrations. to be committed to memory at home by the scholars.

[blocks in formation]

6. The explanations under each head are to be connected at the end of the volume by an Analytical Index, which will enable the teacher, scholar, or other inquirer to command at once all the references to the subject which may claim his attention.

7. Though designed for Sunday-schools, the books will answer equally well for secular schools, domestic Bible-classes, Family instruction, or cottage lectures.
