We hav been induced to issue the present elemenry work compliance with the repeated request of any teachers who have found the larger French grammar too difficult for younger pupils. We deemed it advisable to make the Accidence fairly complete; only so uch of the Syntax has been introduced as was absoluly necessary for the understanding of a simple sentence. The exercises are of a most elementary character, and ave been specially constructed so as to illustrate the various inflections. Although the conjugations have been given in full we thought it best to postpone the application of the Subjunctive mood until the pupil is so far advanced as to be able to use the larger work.
