One of at least four "ninth" editions printed in London or Edinburgh in the period 1795-1800. The maps, engraved after d'Anville by James Rymer, of Edinburgh, still have the plate numbers of the edition for which they were apparently produced, an "eighth" edition with imprint: Edinburgh : At the Apollo Press, by Martin & M'Dowall : Printed for A. Guthrie ... Edinburgh; and J. Murray ... London, 1789 (ESTC N30161)
